• This feels like a daft question for someone who's been driving as long as I have, but do we reckon All Season tyres are necessary in the North East of the UK?

We get a lot of rain, maybe a few days or fortnight of snow, during which I tend to avoid driving anyway.

I need some new tyres and would like to prioritise noise and fuel efficiency if I can - am replacing runflats with non-runflat

  • Maybe I got sucked into the marketing hype but I bought all season tyres for the first time this year when replacing all 4. Allegedly summer tyre compound loses out under about 7c, which is pretty standard UK winter temps for a good chunk of the year.

We're about to have a baby so I figured the extra security in cold weather outweighs 'performance' loss in summer. Noise rating was similar to summer tyre, but lost a bit on fuel efficency - which isn't a massive issue for us as our mileage is low.
