Been a while since Bob Rawle, Andy Forrest and all for me that but that's how I thought the Denso Ecu handled knock correction.

That Lada is ace.

My outback is eating through break pads, 10,000km from the front! Seems crazy. But I do drive always in the mountains, off road somewhat and with autobox.

Does the stability control on those involve the rear brakes? When using a 996 on track the rears will sometimes get very hot because the stability control is (effectively) dragging them.

Sorry I meant to write front, needed a other coffee.

Did you change your post I was replying to?
Or am I going mad/answering something else?
Anyway interesting link.

What brand pads? What are the discs like?
-
• #79785
Not sure on brand. Ive asked them to fit some OEM or Brembo next time. Discs seem fine.
I do drive only on winding mountain roads, in an auto, with a heavy foot. So I guess its not wild.

Not changed my post. Link is from a while ago, mind you I got my Impreza 2001 and after 15 years it was like triggers broom lol. The RCM boys when they were down at Peckleton Hall had a lot to do with that !

I'm wondering why I wrote who told you that as it looks sarcastic but doesn't fit as a reply to your post.
Sorry was being a cockwomble and trying to figure out why.
Edit Well I think I was coming across as rude, so accept my apology or else ;)

You were simply asking a question , nothing wrong in that.
Way more polite than how I am addressed at work lol

Spotted this land cruiser monstrosity in the alps today

Pretty cool. Except for the special paint on the canopy. This had a lot of work done, it has either had a coil spring conversion done or it’s on an 80s serie chassis.
-
• #79791
Yeah - the suspension was coil springs

Give that some grey paint in the back and you'd win the adventurous marketing guy contest in Berlin.

adventurous marketing guy
lolz. I used to enjoy seeing a custom classic Alfa/VW/Porsche/4x4/Cafe racer but now i just see (insert posh name from liberal family) having some downtime from tech.
Having been reintroduced to the UK Japanese car scene recently i'm hopeful that one is still clinging on to it's more humble origins.

This feels like a daft question for someone who's been driving as long as I have, but do we reckon All Season tyres are necessary in the North East of the UK?
We get a lot of rain, maybe a few days or fortnight of snow, during which I tend to avoid driving anyway.
I need some new tyres and would like to prioritise noise and fuel efficiency if I can - am replacing runflats with non-runflat

in the alps
where exactly?
-
• #79796
I've never felt my Cross Climates were a disadvantage in good weather but i've also never really tested them in shit weather as i tend to avoid driving in really bad conditions. If you're not hellbent on beating your PB everywhere (aka speeding) i can't see many downsides.
Be keen to see what you find on noise ratings though as i've never looked that much into it.

Maybe I got sucked into the marketing hype but I bought all season tyres for the first time this year when replacing all 4. Allegedly summer tyre compound loses out under about 7c, which is pretty standard UK winter temps for a good chunk of the year.
We're about to have a baby so I figured the extra security in cold weather outweighs 'performance' loss in summer. Noise rating was similar to summer tyre, but lost a bit on fuel efficency - which isn't a massive issue for us as our mileage is low.

Long shot but you never know someone might be interested…
Looking to sell my slk200 2009 facelift. Bought from Copart as a write off with minor damage to door and wing, intending to repair and keep or sell.
I’ve just not got time to do it. I’ve been using it as it is with no issues.
Only just done 40k miles, I’ve fully serviced it and replaced all the disc/ pads. Matching Pirelli tyres all round.Looking for £2.5k
Anyone interested I can provide more details

Thanks @jono84 @JamesQGM - good points especially temperature. I don't do super heavy mileage - 500 motorway miles once a month and then some local trips - so I think I can probably worry slightly less about fuel economy. The car's also not bad on that front as it is.
Managed to get some CrossClimate 2 fitted for £146 each on BlackCircles, which takes a bit of the edge off.
Ok, who told you that?
