I need to put in an extractor. it seems like one just wired to the light might be best as humidity one might not work right all the time.
Has anyone got a 'silet' extractor, wondering how quiet they are? As nothing more annoying than a running extractor.

You want a ‘dMEV’ silent continuously running extractor with auto boost. Best bang for buck is a Greenwood CV2GIP.

Would anyone like this cute Victorian front door? Approx 810 x 2020mm.
I pulled it out of a skip years ago and had it chemically stripped but never got round to fitting it. Can’t deal with eBay.
Free, collection from E10.

Final bits of sanding and oiling, and calm before the endless cascades of boxes of shit fill every orifice of the place…

Is there any age to the door number? 130 is my door number! It must be a sign.

Person that measured our kitchen says she was off a bit and we need a longer worktop (yay, my kitchen is bigger!).
OR we could add "upstands" or something to the ends to fill the gap.
The builders suggested upstands for the back anyway but the sides?
Which option would you choose and why?

I’d want Option 2 from image below, I wouldn’t want a vertical visible “top end” effectively extending the work surface.
If the upstands go up to the work surface and carry on above, up a side wall or taller unit (not drawn), I would care less, but still probably prefer the full width work surface, in a normal ish small ish London kitchen. Then it’s aesthetics

Our kitchen top is along one wall only, no corners. So you're saying wall to wall work top without it being bookended by these upskirt things is better? That is what I was going for too but I wanted more opinions.
I think upskirt all the way along the back is ok but leave the sides clean so the work surface is wall to wall.

Erm, that’s illegal now dude.

Kitchens are filth

Yes. That’s my preference, but I don’t think there’s much in it
-

The place we are getting the stuff from mostly only has 3m lengths of worktop so getting one that's 3.whatever might be a challenge. But there's also not many sexy ways to fill the side gaps, cheaply I guess.

this is going to look so good

Ok, so the place we've been using doesn't have anything we like that's long enough. Happy fucking days

Anyone got a floating vanity with draws they want to shout about being nice?
-
• #11220
Ours isn’t floating but we had a one made by Desiva in Poland
It’s powder coated steel and has big draw runners, it’s a heavy beast but I think they do wall mounted as they will pretty much make anything you want to a custom size.Pic is before the second drawer went in.

Thanks. That begs a question seeing your sink, do you get water splashing around it on the vanity surface. My wife wants a sink like that but I'm convinced it'll be a mess.
What's the sink? Something off white would be nice.
And we went for the Crosswater in the end cheers for that suggestion.

Wipe it down after you've finished?
I'm really not a fan of sinks like that, the shape is wrong to be able to get your hands into it properly to scoop up water and the tap gets in the way if you are trying to rinse your face. Plus you get water all around it as you say.

Some splashing but I found other sinks meant water on the floor, it’s not been enough of an issue to consider changing it.
I would have maybe had a wider lozenge shape but it wasn’t my decision.
No issues with face washing as it’s a decent size even with the long spout which gets over the plug, not felt the need to change to the shorter one.
Sink was a bargain from B&Q which saved hundreds over the Vitra and Rak ones that were the same colour. -

Cheers!
This is all personal taste but I wouldn't have pendant lights that close to the cooking zone, they will get greasy over time and are a faff to clean.
