He posted a video shortly after the horrific events in Southport in which he said something along the lines of "there are questions to be answered" about whether the attacker was known to MI6 as a potential Islamic radical. It was a clear dog whistle, and, unsurprisingly, stirred up shit.
He then had a hissy fit this week because someone (and he cites James O'Brien on LBC at some point) referred to the rioting as the "Farage riots".
