max you can grind in the Niche is maybe 50-60g? so 60 reps or so
-
• #27228
Although that being said you could get it ground at a coffee shop on the day/day before and I doubt it would be such a hit and much less faff/expense
-
• #27229
I thought it was odd that you didn't have really good coffee stuff in your kitchen setup!
-
• #27230
Yeah just do this for sure....
-
• #27231
If the niche can only do 60g at once, deffo just take it to a coffee shop with a Mahlkönig or whatever.

Take it pre-ground. Buy it pre-ground. I don’t wish to sound sarcastic but do you think anyone will really notice? I know nobody I know would.

I have no idea how much coffee I’ll get through. So I think I’ll ask YBCR for a couple of kg, get one kg pre ground and take another as beans. I assume there will be a coffee vendor and if I am getting through coffee quickly I’ll ask them to grind the second bag.
I’d rather not return home with loads of pre ground coffee as we tend to drink espresso based drinks at home.

Long term I assume the niche zero will be the travelling grinder. I hope to upgrade the home setup to the Decent Bengle and a new grinder some time next year.

• #27236
Third please 🫣
-
• #27237
Bloody hell! Although very intrigued to hear what the Bengle is like
-

Its basically a Decent de1 but with built in scales and cup warmer
But it also gets the seal of approval of the person in our house who has a sense of aesthetics, i'd quite happily just get a de1xl but the square box doesn't get their seal of approval.

I saw a post yesterday for someone wanting a small grinder to travel with? I have a redundant to my needs Orphan Espresso (OE) Lido 2 hand grinder that has been a fantastic grinder for me. It's extremely well built and i've predominantly used it for pourover at work, but also had it dialled in for Espresso in the La Pavoni, although it takes a good workout to grind for espresso!
HMU if interested.

Thanks, it’s good fun playing with it, making little changes as required.

Thanks! I've come to my senses and have put the search for a more or less superfluous travel grinder on hold until I've got a quieter/less expensive calendar though.

I've been contemplating an SPB or Moccamaster but also had a look at Melitta after the Aromaboy enthusiasm on here.
This one's on offer at £70 right now - anything not to like?

Removable water thank is a nice feature.
I love the retro look of the aroma boy.
SPB is expensive brand new. I was lucky and got one for next to nothing off eBay minus the carafe.

SPB is expensive brand new
yeah, hence looking at slightly less ££ options.
I prefer a carafe to a hotplate as I don't like stewed coffee and generally it gets drunk within half an hour of brewing (if I do large french press, for example).

Argh, you absolute bastard. I’ve been trying to keep my mucky paws off an Aromaboy and the time is now right to buy one and the price is right. Thanks for
bloody wellreminding me. -

rude not to at 30 quid :)
Not sure the niche would be happy grinding 2-3kg in one go!
