Yeah, I got rid of my set top box and TV license and have watched about 5mins of these Olympics either in the pub or watching a replay on youtube. I'd like to watch the track events but I can't be arsed finding a source.

The derny is pretty cool…a long way from the minimalist moped designs previously used.

And a big kick off at the end of one of the 5000 metre heats as gb runner squares up to French runner who tripped him up.

That's definitely a lost Deliveroo rider.

George Mills is like his dad - gobby, unlikeable and fairly average

GB women missing Katie Archibald.
Updated - it seems to have been a national record so extremely impressive.
-

It was very impressive, but I think with Archibald there, they’d have had enough to beat the Americans.

I’m looking forward to him being booed around the track on Saturday.

Anyone noticed the Japanese sprint track bikes have the crankset on the left (rather than right) hand side. Interesting choice, and wonder why?
-

It has been done before by Felt for the US team in 2016 Rio. Aerodynamics (and some claim of better handling due to weight more "inboard").
"The reason for this, according to Felt, is that bikes are faster when the airflow is coming from the drivetrain side, so as the air will always be coming from the left when riding anti-clockwise around a velodrome, it switch the drivetrain to that side."

Felt/USA tried it for 2016, the idea is that it’s travelling slower on the inside of the track and as drag increases with speed there’s a marginal gain from it, it makes sense logically, but I’m not sure why it didn’t take on, suspect it’s in part because all drivetrain parts then become proprietary and it’s expensive to develop the best wheel/bb/chainset/cog etc… possibly also because the drivetrain is so noisy because of feet the benefit isn’t big enough…

Too slow

My crankset must be on the left. YEAHBOI!
-
• #668
Yeah Chris Boardman mentioned it’d cost €70k to buy one so seemed pretty spenny
-
• #669
I’m surprised you don’t need cranksets on both sides, such is your power.

chain too slack

No point.
The UCI banned me from riding any tracks because I flattened the bankings every time.

You should sell your services as a track flattening consultant.
Ride around in circles around any sports hall to create a steep banking. -

Seems for one Australian simply being at the Olympics wasn’t enough of a high.

Denmark fucked it
Interesting graph. Looks Like a lot of similarity between GBR and AUS in terms of where the peaks and troughs are.
