Wanted: Ladies / dutch bike

Posted on
  • Looking for a bike for my GF. Something easy to ride (including up the hill we live on) and that our two year old can have a seat on. She's 5"11. Based in Brighton but can also collect in London.

Don't know the gradient of the hill it needs to go up, not mine and always wanted one!

Should easily take a rear child seat since it is a Pashley.

  • Thanks. Looks good, though also looks heavy!

  • I have a Raleigh Classic Lady. Mixte frame in Reynolds 531c, it is light but perfectly capable of taking a load, be that child or shopping. (I probably have a hamax seat for child too.)
This is a vintage bike but in really good order. Very classy in burgundy and chrome. Best of all it is built for the taller lady. A 23" frame, in old money. I am 6'2" and have ridden it 5'11" is probably perfect. Few new bikes, with compact frame designs, are nearly as comfortable for tall women unless you go for a Dutch Town bike, which way a ton.
I should have said that it has swept back flat bars, great in town or with a passenger; Upgraded triple chainset and Simplex retrofriction shifters for trouble free operation; 27x 1 1/4 tyres with mudguards, for comfort. (It would probably fit 700 x 38 tyres with mudguards but I doubt the current brakes would reach.)
Price would be £200 +postage (I am in Devon. We have family in Brighton so might manage to deliver depending on timing. )
Send me a PM with email address I'd you want me to take some photos for you.
    Cheers, Geoffrey
