Not really, tbf. Had a look out of interest at one point and they were pretty expensive for things I'm not all that interested in. Would have been fun to be there for one of the events that you can watch from the street, but looks like we missed that. I remember going to the race walking in 2012, which was fun.

Climbing is a funny sport where each route is actually not that difficult. Most of the climbers would easily be able to complete the routes if they were allowed longer than 5 minutes. Considering that some of the hardest routes in the world take people months to complete, you can imagine how much easier these routes must be.
The competition is as much about problem solving than raw strength or talent. -

Arguably less interesting than a grand tour sprint stage

Looks like there’s a spring under the landing area in the men’s high bar.
Commentary quote - ‘what a shame, what an absolute disaster’ -

High bar final also bizarre

Also still no drafting in amateur/age group sprint and oly distance.
Only elite short stuff
It has changed the focus. Emphasises the swim (make sure you’re part of the blob on the bike) and the run (since it’s more likely that a group will come in together)Taylor Knibb (the US woman) is more dangerous on middle distance+ where her bike makes far more difference in non draft races

I'm afraid you'll find what you can do a bit limited. Whole swathes of the city are closed off and access only allowed with a QR code if you are a local/have tickets around the major locations being used. I'm sure there will still be some pleasant sauntering around to do, but imagine the prices are going to be a bit spicy.

Hmm, thanks. Been enough times that we're not really planning to do anything touristy, so at least we won't be disappointed on that front. I'm hoping it'll be like London was - quite chill, and fairly empty.

Laura thinks we’ll get 8 golds. We are making a good start. I say we, I’m eating biscuits and drinking coffee, but still it’s WE.

Looking likely for lots of world records being broken on the track in the coming days…

Is there a Chinese manufacturer secretly developing a big bucks track bike? Now that they've got world domination in the carbon frame industry generally it seems a bit odd that their Olympic track bike is a Look.
