The bike is built! And has since been BDHU-ed. Feels lovely under pedal - I think the 531/28mm tire combination is reasonably absorbent but I have some 32s enroute from a friend, so maybe that’ll make it even more cushy. 48-18 for Warwickshire hills feels about right - you folks were spot on!
Only minor pain is the rear track nuts are constantly slipping forwards in the dropouts. I’ve had a look and the nuts themselves still have plenty of ‘tooth’ left, so in theory should bite down and not move. Anyone experience this when running fixed on non-track bikes, ie perhaps just retro horizontal dropouts?
For now, though, it looks and feels complete. Now to find a 20 or 22T cog for the other side so I have an option for hilly audaxes or longer rides.
