next best solution is to just pay a discounted price for a new frame
Its not really fair from Mielec, but I understand from your side. You just want a good frame and ride.

• #5278
yeah, it's not a fair situation, lose lose on both ends, I mean the packing needs to be better, that's all I will say
-

Such a shame! I'd be very reluctant to give them any more money personally. They made a huge, basic mistake, meaning that you've essentially paid them a decent chunk of cash without receiving anything in return. They then refused to make it right. Not a company I'd want to be supporting!

Fuck that, he should send you a new frame!
It also says a lot about their attitude to not only skimp on insurance, but to not do anything in terms of proper packaging.
Cardboard can be found for free.
Then you make some struts to prevent the frame from moving and add some padding to exposed parts. -

Sad stuff to read.

Absolutely this.
There should be no extra cost for you getting a usable frame.

here is what Robert said ... before anyone says other wise, yes shipping costs that much for it to be safely shipped back correctly and pain/worry free ... also I provided all the photos and info to Robert before through countless emails, I even spoke to the Polish Post rep to make sure I knew what to send, idk why Robert is lost and confused asking for more information when it's all there ... also can anyone tell me what holiday it is ? maybe he's on vacation? idk

yes, the frame was simply saran wrapped with card board for head tube and seat tube, that was it ... in a box , and no the frame was not held in place what so ever, so it was constantly moving in the box...

what holiday it is ?
Large swathes of Europe pretty much chill for the next month or so as most people who aren't in hospitality take their reasonably decent paid holiday time. This probably seems insane to someone in the States, it's a little odd to people in the UK.

I really wouldn't be punting any more money Mielec's way. Even if you get something for an extra couple of hundred you would have paid circa $550 for a frame from a manufacturer whose USP was building cheap frames.
for way less than that you could have a State Black Label or undefeated frameset and put some reasonable parts on it

Richtarsky or Orlowski if you want to stay in eastern europe.
-
• #5288
That's waaaayyy more expensive than a Mielec
-
• #5289
state Ik , I just wanted this flat top triple triangle frame, because it looks very nice
-
• #5290
interesting, thank you for explaining this
-
• #5291
Sure but 500$+ for shipping back, +~200$ for the frame, it comes close to a ritch/orlo frameset.
Quality and shipping far far better. And no hassle. -
• #5292
yeah they both look very nice, columbus tubing as well , maybe I see if they would make a triple triangle with a flat top for me

seems to be broken, the link

Instagram links are all annoying now, it's someone called tatty_macleod and is currently the fourth post she has, first after the pinned ones, she's sat on a beach in the thumbnail. It's just her doing a little sketch about being French in August.
-
• #5296
Yeah basically the whole of continental Europe is on holiday / go slow because everyone else is on holiday in August.
Tbf I used to work with a lot of IFAs and they'd basically bail on doing any real work July and August.

the whole of continental Europe is on holiday / go slow because everyone else is on holiday in August.
While this is particularly true of France, Poles work almost exactly as many hours per year as 'merkins
-
• #5299
apologies, but what does this mean
-
• #5300
what does this mean
That if you ask a French company a question in July, don't expect a reply until September, but if a Polish company tries to use the same reasoning, they're probably lying.
very true, I do very much wish, they bought shipping insurance, it's literally $5 , or put on a fragile sticker on the box, I'm not saying these things would have prevented the frame from damage but having it as a reassurance / backup plan for when things do go bad you can fall on that insurance claim and or even extra packaging material, I can't imagine it costing more than $20 for better packing material
