Alan, who was a handy rider & was trackside at Manchester to sort out the splinters & scrapes in the wood during many years of events, passed away last week I'm told.

Sad news to wake up to.
Try to incorporate his famous words in everyday life as often as I can.
Proclaimed ‘This is democracy manifest” when walking into the polling station much to the embarrassment of my partner and only yesterday a ‘succulent Chinese meal’.
Not used ‘This is the man who got me on my penis’ for a while though.
Noodles for tea tonight.

No idea how many times I’ve said ‘you know your judo well’ but it’s a lot.

Now the cause of death has been revealed it’s even more sad. His family appear to have tried to hard to help. What a tragedy when a person decides the world is better off without them.
Perhaps the ECB could have a mental health day at The Oval test in the similar way as the Red for Ruth at Lords and Blue for Bob at Edgbaston days? -

John Miller 1942-2024
John was a very promising young roadman (old meaning) and a successful vet in the 80's and 90's. The reason you've probably never heard of him is that, as a young man, he retired from racing before his career really got going.
West London Junior RR Champion in his year, he had a super successful first year as a senior (riding for his original club, the Edgware RC) and then turned pro for Wally Green. Unfortunately he then stopped racing until he became a vet.
I've been asked to write an obituary which I'll post here when it's done.
