  • Thanks for the compliment but, sorry no. I'm working on renovating my house. Also recovering from a broken leg and long way from ever returning to racing I don't have the.mental capacity to be involved on my more than a surface level, it's a bit painful.

  • It's not hard to plan a gpx correctly, but TCR do like to change things last moment.

I advised all my clients to download their offical gpx files for parcous and use them to navigate if in any doubt. Or run it on a second device simultaneously.

  • Dont' worry James, all the best with renovating and more importantly with your recovery :)
if you need anything please let me know.
    Take care James.

  • Sorry Abdullah go back to the start line and do it all properly next time.

  • Sounds like good advice.

I think their Komoot sponsorship messes things up a bit too. They can't just give you the file, they have to do it through them, which adds more potential for errors - especially when combined with last minute changes.

  • That's just BS - not what your saying, but stuff being locked onto komoot. Any event should be giving direct GPX files to remove user error. We all know Komoot software can mess with routes/files.
I send our event riders a GPX files, plus split GPX files. It's the organisers duty.

  • I've been on komoot way long, stayed because lazy. But it definitely isn't where I'd like to download important gpx files, and I'd look into alternative planning tools if I was to do something like TCR.

  • He wanted to say how strong Strasser was just after winning, nice to hear.

  • what's your patch product of choice then?

  • I think this only has those that finished. From memory Bjorn was first to CP1 in 2019

  • This happens on TPR too. I plan everything in RWGPS, but the official Parcours are all in Komoot.

It's a royal PITA. As if I'd use Komoot for anything.

  • Never knew about them util that link. Obvs I just lift fully loaded cargo bikes up to change tube but i can see these being useful for humans. cartmanbeefcake.gif

  • Park quick ones (or lezyne but i've run out of freebies) and Rema Tip Top glue and patches. Park tyre boots on road and gorilla tape off-road. plus a bunch of othertubeless shit

  • Yeah I hand drew all my RWGPS parcours because a straight import from Poomoot doesn't work. Nothing like adding hours to an already mind numbing job.

  • Makes sense. Maybe I'll go and check the race replays at some point.

  • That's right - and Skinny was first to CP1 in 2015 before Shermer's struck

  • Don't know about other countries, but Germany has a load of photos on komoot, so you see what you'll get.
    Definitely nice for tourism.

  • This is true of all route planning tools no? A gpx just provides a list of points and whatever mapping tool you use will try and map that onto a road or path using whatever base maps it uses. I will admit that Komoot is particularly bad but you can get the same kind of errors loading into RWGPS, Strava, even directly onto a device.

Many thanks for posting that. I can't download it right now for some reason but will have a look asap. I just hope there's no celebrating or any nonsense like that.

  • There is the clapping and then the awkward silence and then some more clapping to fill said silence and the mandatory "how do you feel?" questions and the sleep deprived rider slurring his words and looking dazed. You know, the usual.

  • Well, disturbingly enough there's whooping, too, and obviously far too many people. While some do their best not to look interested, some even ask Robin questions. I tell you, this race is heading in the wrong direction.

    The subtitles are hilarious.

I didn't realise there were videos. They always seem to farm those out to an independent outfit, this time MaverickCycles.

  • I tell you, this race is heading in the wrong direction.

    Why?

  • Ah, and the videos are just someone looking at dots and anti-social media posts.
