I wish I could get that high
I guess it's a matter of being able to afford unlimited quantities of high quality gear and then building up your tolerance over years and years?

I couldn’t make out a word of that, glad it wasn’t just me.

Was he just obsessed with Hunter’s laptop so he could get access to Hunter’s dealers?

O_O
An Ipsos poll published in June and commissioned by the Earth4All non-profit and the Global Commons Alliance found that 41% of Americans believe “having a strong leader who does not have to bother with parliament and elections” is a very good or fairly good way to govern.
41%!

This is Peter Thiels clarity of facism thing I guess.

Thiel is historically illiterate.

I'm getting strong early 1930s Germany vibes here.
Some of those 41% might expect this strongman to be a reborn Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, ruling in their interest and stepping down after the "crisis" is averted. But how likely would that be? -

I'm not especially surprised.
Things have always been complicated, but even more so now. Every time a simple solution gets proposed then an expert pops up to explain why it's not actually that simple and starts listing associated risks.
Anyone who's worked in the public sector or a massive institution can relate to the Kafkaesque dances over getting something simple resolved.
Often it feels like the blocker to problems is the structures we operate in rather than any real obstacles.

Not massively surprised, the US is becoming more evangelical, if large swathes of the population believe in a bearded dictator floating in the sky then loads of them would also be quite happy to have one in office. (or a beardless orange one)

I remember watching a “documentary”, back in 1996, on Nosferatu’s predictions. The parts that stuck with me are how the antichrist will arrive as a charismatic leader who clearly embodies evil but still draws swathes of people away from the ways of god and good, and eventually nukes the Middle East before the advent of the apocalypse. Also some vagueness about flaming birds smashing into buildings or something suggestive of 9/11.
I don’t believe in magic/religious dogma, and predictions ‘work’ particularly well when deployed on a very broad brush, but damn, sometimes I wonder what the odds might be nowadays.

Nosferatu’s predictions
I recall him predicting that very bad things would happen unless people gave blood regularly. Lots of blood. To him, specifically.

My thoughts entirely.

I'm willing to try any solution to my current predicament. Where do I sign up?
