  • when I did the paris roubaix sportive I took 2 tubes with me. Punctured them both and the roadside mechanics were trying to flog me inner tubes for 20 euros each. So I patched them with my rema kit. It really didn't take long at all, I'm surprised that this isn't something people seem to be keen to do.

  • Patches weigh nothing too, not like there is any downside to bringing them?

  • Of course not. It's the fucking TCR, not a 25mi TT. Ooh thread crossover.

How long does it take to patch a tube vs. how long does it take to catch a bus to a shop with tubes (or whatever other shenanigans is going on with the front guys)?

  • Robin's nearly done, fantastic ride. Strasser on finish parcours.

  • Great ride by Robin - I kinda hope AZ would prevail but maybe that means he’ll be back.

  • How long to patch a tube vs post on insta that you don't have any tubes and don't know about patches?

  • ye, absolutely outstanding ride. No one ever leads from start to finish and wins

  • I guess you have a lot of time for Insta while you're waiting for the bus back to that bike shop you passed in the last city...

  • I don't get why they're not just riding tubeless.

  • No one ever leads from start to finish and wins

That's the most common pattern, no? Get a lead and sit on it, or stretch it out, a la Kristof Allegaert

The 2018 event, when @skinny reeled in Bjorn Lenhard, and Strasser's two wins, were the exceptions with the lead changing hands after the half way point.

  • Me neither. But some might have started that way and had to put in a tube. That is relatively common.

  • That was my question so far… @frank9755 and other TCRers might cast a light ?

  • Opsiii quoted you before seeing this 😊

  • Will have to look. But pretty sure Fiona wasn't first at the first CP.

  • Because road tubeless is shite. :)

According to DW these guys are using tubeless tyres: Omar was tubeless, Dario Demarco, Augustin Muller, Regan Arendse, Hanna de Sousa, Jana Kesenheimer, Ailish Green, Jonathan Good, Boris Reyher, Matthew Spooner, Laurent Garbolino, Erik Schiller, Philip Renders

  • Thought it was something like Bjorn, Ben Fiona but they both DNFd? I can't really remember I was having my own issues that year :)

  • No she wasn't, nor to CP2, which was fairly early on, but she was first to CP3 which was before half way.

KA was first to CP1 in his three wins and I am pretty sure Josh was in his, and Skinny may well have been in 2019.

Actually, no - didn't Skinny get to CP1 before Josh in 2015...?

  • Because it's about insta content - and road tubeless doesn't give you any!

  • Bjorn and RJ both DNF'd, Ben finished second.
I got the train back from Austria

  • Abdullah is amazingly strong, but he didn't race smart imo.

Christoph threw the race away before he even got going with dumb mistakes.

Robin made a phenomenal ride, smart and strong. Well deserved.

  • And jeez it looked an incredibly hard edition, the hardest. Too hard I think.

  • They do when they let go and hose the rider with sealant. They're my favourites.

Less so when they just don't inflate above 30psi after a flat.

  • Ah, it was RJ I was thinking of not Ben.

That was my slowest and last TCR. Going backwards sucks, much of France sucks and I highly recommend not stacking your year with ultras just to find out how far you can get before you break down physically.

  • Ok so No one ever leads from start to finish in the last few years

  • Pffft, it's too easy if more than one rider finishes.
