I had a long conversation with my parents at the weekend after a health scare in the family.
You only live once etc. -

It's a great guitar that will serve you well forever. Wise choice. Having a nice instrument makes you want to sit and play. Hope everyone's OK.

Everyone is doing ok for the moment so all good.
Stand by the decision to go hss as well. -

"Stand by the decision to go hss as well."
Well, you can't be right all the time.

I nearly went completely sideways yesterday and tried some Charvel that they had on a special deal. Was a bit too whitesnake for me though.

You're right, I should buy that Zona instead of topping up the household savings...

My rationale was ‘both guitars are really nice, BUT, this might be the only opportunity I ever have to buy a brand new strat’.
Really chuffed with Peach Guitars in Colchester’ service. Were really relaxed about my trying stuff yesterday, tech had stepped out while I was there so they gave it a full once over yesterday afternoon and delivered it to my workshop first thing this morning.
Price also included a follow-up dial-in later on if required :) -

Really makes me want to pop by Wunjo and "just try" that Jazzmaster XII...!
HSS way to go for me if you're going to have a bridge HB - a single in the neck is the way to go! -

Well done! Birch Green is delish. As a self confessed tart I'd add a nickel cover to the humbucker (or if it's up for replacement in future get a covered one) but it looks magnificent!
I think I'm going to have to go and try a Hialeah Yellow Player II Jaguar soon...
Happy to hear health scare has passed also.

add a nickel cover to the humbucker
Careful, the cut-out in the pickguard might not be sufficiently long/wide to accommodate a metal cover
Edit: in fact, I can pretty much guarantee it won’t fit that hole without modification

So I’m not a fan of nickel covers anyway so not something I’ll worry about.
I tried the Player Plus which has the nickel cover, bugged me a bit.
I wouldn’t mind eventually swapping out the pickguard for an aged pearl as the current guard isn’t a great match for the other plastic parts.I’ll take a proper pic at some point but the size difference is wild. Fingerboard about 6mm wider at the nut.

Can confirm the Hialeah Yellow is way nicer in the flesh as well.

Without trawling through the thread is there a consensus about online learning programs and if they’re worth it?
I see Fender Play gets slammed in reviews and GuitarTricks seeming to be well regarded.
Just wondering if it’s a good compliment to the one to one lessons I’m having online with Bob.
At $90/hr he’s pretty pricy but seemingly in the same ballpark price as teachers in London. I’m only having a lesson with Bob once every 2 weeks for the time being. -

There is a huge amount of good content on https://www.justinguitar.com/, a lot of it organised into courses. Probably works best if you’re fairly self-motivated though. I know there is always a different dynamic when you have regular face to face lessons booked, that you don’t want to let your teacher/yourself down by not having practiced.

Absolutely, that’s why I was hoping to do both to a greater or lesser extent, especially as I can’t afford a weekly with Bob, but £120ish for a whole year of online content seems justifiable.
Will have a look at Justin, have seen a few on his YouTube tutorials but find him a bit jarring so never really looked too much at his stuff.I definitely think a one to one is going to be good to keep the discipline up for the foreseeable.

There is also https://youtube.com/@acpg who a lot of us are fans of, though there’s a lot less in terms of “proper” lessons/courses on his channel. But it is free of course and his individual song tutorials in particular are really good.

Oh yeah ok, Beato I can do, enjoyed a couple of his yt vids.
Also, just realised Bob runs playthisriff.com so should probably sign up to that one lol

Bit late to this, but that looks lovely, cracking colour.
I quite like that look where the plate colour doesn't quite match the other plastics, it looks like it's got a bit of age to it (though the green body might be throwing me if ant of them are a bright white).

I bought a slide blues course from Tru-Fire (?) last year. They have loads of stuff at all levels. I really enjoyed it.

Love the Strat btw. Rad colour. Congrats!
Haha, love it when a plan comes together.
