The lever looks and behaves ok
-

Ok, cheers, worth a try, am going to buy a new inner and outer and try that…
but that means another trip to the LBS, another day of no cycle commuting, another go at taking all the bar tape off and re-wrapping it fml -

I need to walk away before I go postal on it

Did you cut the cable and outer the same length as they were before? Do they have the same route under the tape as before? If either of these is 'no', perhaps the amount of slack in the cable/outer is not quite right.

Good advice, will check when I’ve all the new bits :(
-
• #7157
I feel your pain! Changing multiple bits at once makes problem determination more difficult. Try to be calm and go back to basics. Go through the instructions one step at a time. I have to do it like this because I'm a mechanical doofus and I always want to do everything for myself.

There's a lot of reasons, brake inner, rusted washers, many other reasons!
-
• #7159
First thing I'd do is take the cable out of the pinch bolt, hold down the lever and push the loose end so the other end pokes out of the lever, grab the head of the cable and feel the cable friction.
BTW those Campy return springs are shit. The only brand I've ever seen where they fatigue and break.

Anyone on here handy with a soldering iron? One of the pogo pins for the battery connection on my AXS mech has stuck in, and it can be replaced with a quick soldering job. I do not have a soldering iron. Would anyone be willing to give it a go for some beer/money?

Sod it, I've bought a soldering iron and am going to try and remember what my secondary school DT teacher who looked like Super Mario taught me two decades ago. Wish me luck!

For anyone interested, this is the video I found. A soldering iron and the cheapest donor charger I could find to harvest a pin from arrived this morning
-
• #7168
Should be dead easy. Don't get the iron too hot
-
• #7169
Gonna give it a bash this afternoon, it's broken unless I give it a go and I don't fancy spending £500+ on a new one
-

Well, that went better than expected. It took three goes, because my soldering skills were shit when I was 14 and unsurprisingly they're no better now, but it came back to life and worked flawlessly round Peaslake today.
I ended up with a bag of 100 spring pins, so if anyone finds themselves in need of one then let me know as I'm unlikely to use up the remaining 99 of them

Struggling to get my head around sram xdr. I have 11 speed sram shifters and an 11 speed shimano cassette. This set up won’t work with the xdr hub right? Can I change the freehub body or does the whole hub need changing? Or can I just get a new 11speed cassette to fit? Thanks
-
• #7172
To clarify 2x11 currently
-
• #7173
Shimano cassette won't go on XDR hub no.
Freehub might be available, I'm sure you can do the googling. Buying an XDR cassette will likely be the cheaper option.

I didn't think you could get 11spd XDR in 2x sizes?
What hub is it? We might be ableto help find the correct freehub. -

I can get my hands on a Campagnolo Record EPS groupset, but it’s one of the first generation I think (from about 2016/17).
What is support like for it? I imagine it’s a lovely groupset to use, but will I be able to get spare batteries etc?
Also any tips for installing on a 1990 externally routed frame and keeping everything looking neat!?
Or the internals of the lever sticking? - can isolate that option by disconnecting cable from the lever (or loosening it at the lever) and then using a pair of pliers to pull the cable to check the brake?
Maybe cable inner fouling on the inside of a cable stop?
