Yeah saw that. Nothing was published for UK though, only Singapore? Asked a T-Line owning friend who didn't know about it either. Apparently, you just need to tighten up some bolts (handle bar clamp, or where the stem meets the fork?) to 7Nm.

Just keep an eye on the underside of the saddle. I’ve found that on those types of clamps the saddle will compress down onto the clamps and damage the edge of the saddle. I knackered a lovely genuine 90’s Flite on one last summer like that, I was properly pissed off.

Swapped the Brompton high bars out for something with more sensible width (630mm), and significantly better looks. Folded photo not the best but could run 720mm bar at this height thanks to H-stem, although potentially need an extra cm or so on the height.

I might get around to removing stickers and reflectors in the near future.

Any recommendations for aftermarket hinge clamps? Cheap is better. My stem hinge bolt is bent so needs replacing and I might as well get rid of the bulky plastic one(s)

I’ve got the TPW ones that look good but I dont think are functionally as good with the even length turning bar. Does the job, but even with very small hands I find it annoying as something is always in the way so I’d go for something else.

Brompton seatpost slipping = new sleeve time. I thought these had to be installed by a dealer as they needed something doing post install (reaming?), but when I went in they said they were super busy but could easily get one of the plastic sleeves in and it’s a simple diy job at home. Has something changed, or have I always been mistaken?

Slipping doesn't necessarily mean new sleeve required, often it can be cured by tightening the pinch bolt a quarter turn or so and/or thoroughly cleaning both the sleeve and post with IPA or degreaser. But yeah if you need to replace the sleeve then you need to ream it post gluing in to compensate for distortion in the seat tube.

I’ve already tightened the seatpost bolt twice (each 1/4 turn) over the past couple of years so definitely time to replace the sleeve :)

I bought the expensive, newer style Brompton set for £75 - includes clamps and bolts for the stem, seatpost clamp and rear triangle catch. All are much more ergonomic than older stock ones in my opinion.

A day after fitting, the Brompton fell out of my car boot onto the hinge. Bolt bent.

A week later the same thing happened, but it landed on the frame clamp hinge. Bolt bent. 😭😭😭

Edit: Actually £75 isn't bad for that set considering how much third-party ones cost. Thr price hurt more because of the damage.

Through very much luck I might soon be the new owner of a very old Brompton that was offered to me so cheaply that i could not say no...

Of course it's completely reasonable to think about modifications already, innit? :D

Dont know the exact age yet. But it is old enough that the IGH is still a Sachs Torpedo and not a Sturmey Archer and it doesn't have the securing clip for the rear triangle at the seat clamp yet.

Therefore my first question is:
Can I retrofit this securing clip to an older bike?
If so, what part or brand is preferable? There seems to be a jungle of fancy third party stuff...

Thank you! That's probably the best option. But first, I'll try to fix the wobbly headset and the deathtrap brakes, before i throw money at it. :)
