  • You used to be able to generate some access codes if you lost your phone/2FA device. Is this still a thing? I used to have a set in my cycling wallet for ultras but I've not had to use them.

    Another option is shared MFA device, ie. if you use Authy, you can have a backup of it on a second device (partner's or spare phone).

  • I think so but then I'd need to carry the codes round. I have 2FA on another device but if my phone gets nicked it could be a while before I get home to get my hands on that. 2FA on girlfriend's phone and hope I'm with her I suppose.

    Just seems so obvious to have an option to protect email.

  • I dunno, seems like a bit of an extreme edge case to me that I'm going to be ok not implementing a solution for.

    Have you tried changing your bank account password?
    I don't think my bank even uses my email to login. I don't know what's required for a reset.

    Can you call the bank and get a hold put on an account like you would a stolen credit card?
