Some years ago I got a puncture just a few streets away from where I live in Walthamstow. Pulled over, jacked up the car and f****d if I could get the alloy wheel off.
I was wrestling with it like an idiot when a random guy waking by said "move over a second there, mate" and kicked the top of the tyre quite hard, at which point the wheel fell off nicely on the kerb.
I'm still a bit grumpy about this. Is it having alloys? I swear I never had this problem with the little steels on my MINI or Ka. Yet both punctures on the golf have been absolute cunts to remove.
Luckily the car wasn't too far from home so I went and got a rubber mallet. I feel like I need to get a travel mallet or some bullshit to go with the spare wheel.
Basically not a fun job to do in a black top in full sun.
