What was the least surprising thing to happen during the men’s TT?
-
• #51028
I think he'd have got second for sure, it would have been very close for first.

Claire Balding referring to the new Olympic TT champ as Remco Evan-o-loop-ol.

Triathlete had shit bike handling?

• #51031
Magnus Sheffield crashing

• #51032
Correct.

Mens XCO final. Fabulous stuff.

Magnifique

R Tom is so good at making friends.
-
• #51036
Doesn't matter, hopefully he's done with fat tyres now.
-
• #51037
Not to you and maybe not to him, but it certainly does to some poeple. Why do you hope he stops MTB?
-
• #51038
What else can he do in it? He's been world champ, now is double Olympic champion, he's got nothing left to prove. He should focus properly on the road and see what he can achieve.
-
• #51039
I think the MTB stuff keeps him enjoying cycling. I suspect he'd get bored and retire early if he just stuck to road.
That GB tracksuit is horrid. Looks like he's about to rob some chocolate from an off license.

• #51040
He should pack in road racing and become a hardline also ran / slopestyle influencer
-
• #51041
He's said multiple times that MTB is what he enjoys most and wants a crack at DH. If road didn't pay the best I don't think he'd carry on not winning the TDF.
-
• #51042
He should pack in road racing
yep but I think road pays more(?)
-
• #51043
Always seems like road racing is pretty boring for him and all a bit of a pain the the arse compared to MTB. Clearly just doing it for the wonga.
-
• #51044
Rubbish. He loves racing a bike, irrespective of the discipline.
But the money is in road racing and he's only really dabbled in it so far, he needs to commit for the next couple of years to see where his ceiling is.

• #51045
He's only "dabbled" in it.
Hahaha
-
• #51046
Yet to win a monument!
-
• #51047
Ah, that's why Ineos have been so shit, they've hired a parade of part-timers, a degree of dabblers, a quotient of quitters, a melange of make-doers...
-
• #51048
In four seasons of road racing, he's averaged 44 race days a year. That's a low average for most road pros.

But a Grand Tour isn't just 'racing a bike' is it. Have to deal with travel, media, politics, essentially living with the same people for a month etc etc. It's a hassle. Also, much of the riding is boring compared to bombing around an XC course. Not every day is the Galibier descent.
And as for 'dabbled', he's done 4 GTs lol.

It's about half the average so hardly what I'd call dabbling.
You're more than welcome to work half the hours of my job and I guess you wouldn't want paying for it coz it's just a hobby :)
Tarling would have had that with a reasonable buffer on a clean run. Feel for him!
