Personally I think you're better off sticking with blankets and cushions and then down the line do a proper job with some sort of uv/weatherproof foam and uv/weatherproof cover. You can get nice fake leather boat upholstery. That would fit with the look.

I had a spare 1/2 hour today, so the vaulting bench has a removable top, there’ll be a bit of storage for blankets and cushions inside. A few old decking boards and a handful of nails/screws and it’s done. I think a trip to the market for a bit of foam and maybe use some old coffee sacks I have kicking around to finish?
