Depends on the original lens specification, if they have an anti-reflection coating you'd need new lenses, if not most non-anti-reflection lenses are tintable. I used to do it for free for a mate as it costs nothing if you've got access to a tint bath. Otherwise you're looking at £60 upwards on the high Street for new lenses. Bit like, 'Can I fit these forks to my bike?' Many variables. Easier with pics, but really need to answer in person.

Any recommendations for cheapish online glasses? Rarely wear them out of the house so not too fussed on the look but need to be able to get ultra thin lens (-6.5 prescription) at a reasonable price.

The reflections from the ironworks is from you having 2 eyes, just stab one eye to solve the problem.
Huh?
No it's not. It's because only the horizontally polarised light reflects back up.
What does that have to do with stereo vision?

I'm on the lookout for spectacles frames that are good for cycling, hiking and running in, and that don't fall down as soon as you get a bit sweaty.
Is there something like this that you could also wear everyday and not look too sports?

And if I want corrective lenses in there for older aged eyes?

I've got some Cubitts ones that I use for anything sporty. I play drums and get insanely sweaty doing that, they've never slipped at all. My other pair slip off my face as soon as there's a whiff of moisture in the air. Neither are designed for sports or anything, the Cubitts just fit me really well, which probably isn't super helpful for you!

Where's good to get prescription lenses for my Ray Ban wayfarer sunglasses? Current lenses are an old prescription and fucking battered.

Anyone got any suggestions for treatments post purchase to stop glasses becoming less than transparent in the rain?
-
• #918
I do! Feel free to PM
Interestingly, what model of Goodr are they? If the lenses are ok and would fit my frames I'd happily have them off you as part-payment? The polarised coating on my pair are badly blemished...

What has happened to Ray Bans? They used to be pretty much for life but the lenses on the last two pairs I have had have delaminated or are covered in tiny blister dots (probably within 3 or 4 years).
Are all modern sunglasses like this or is there a manufacturer that will last for a decent amount of time?

They got bought by Luxotica.
I recently got a pair from Waterhaul who make a big deal of their mineral lenses being much more durable than most plastic sunglasses, but can't comment on longevity. They definitely have great visual clarity though

Looking a pair of sunglasses whilst I wear contacts for sport in the summer, mostly cricket. Is there any reason I shouldn't get a pair of Sutro's from Oakley? I get a 25% discount as well.
Open to similar suggestions

I managed to lose a pair of glasses this weekend. Anywhere to check out in central London for a replacement other than Cubbitts and Ace and Tate that will have decent options and not be really expensive? I really liked the pair I lost from Cubbitts so maybe I'll just pop back there and see if they have anything similar.
I do have another pair so I don't need somewhere that'll give me an eye test and knock out a pair of glasses on the day. -

If you have your prescription, aliexpress has quality glasses for good prices. I've bought a number of both titanium and acetate frames and have been impressed with most of them.

I ended up getting something from Ace & Tate. That's a good tip for next time though!

can you give me a link?
I'm in the market for new frames (always).
Where do you get your lenses from?
i have a pair of specs which i have now replaced. although a bit rough they are still fine, and I wondered if I could have these turned into sunglasses cheaply? I have also wanted to see what they might look like as sunglasses by coloring the lens in with felt pen but this hasn't worked!
