• In my experience, most people will ask if you need anything when you're stopped at the side of the road. I got given an inner tube by a fella years ago after I'd had four punctures on one ride, I offered to pay him for it later but he insisted on a donation to the local hospice instead.

    My past experience was largely the same, but it's been many years since I've needed help, and the make-up of the peloton has changed. It was near Sevenoaks btw, maybe there's just a higher concentration of twats in the neighbourhood.

  • It's not just you, last time I got a puncture and stupidly didn't have repair stuff, on a main commuter path about 50 people rode passed before someone stopped, who gave me a tube. I got to repay the favour to somone else recently who's pump had broken.

    I don't think it's just cycling, people just generally seem less likely to help people. More likely to film you struggling for tiktok likes.
