Why have I never seen washing up liquid with a hand-soap style pump? It would sit next to the sink and dispense right into the basin.

Thanks! Ordered from stridsland direct

Buy a refillable one? That's what I've always done. We've got something not too dissimilar to this: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807229377219.html
Edit: Found it
Hoping we didn't pay RRP for that...

I like that they sexed it up by using the French word for scrubbing brush.

We're having one built into the sink at our new place, kind of like this below (but not gold unfortunately) . Pump ones are also fairly common to buy in the supermarket in France.

I have a SanDisk USB memory stick I've been using to expand the storage of my firestick. The apps on there have stopped working because the Firestick can't read it. The USB stick is hot.
When I plug it into my laptops (W10 and Ubuntu) then, neither show the stick via a notification. When I check the file explorers no stick shows as mounted.
This makes me think the stick is fucked.
Questions:
- Is there another way to confirm it's fucked? Or is this sufficient?
- Is there a way to recover the files? (it'd be easier if I could copy it)
- Why could this have happened and can I take any steps to mitigate this in future? (I'm wondering if there is something about having it permanently mounted via a Rii F1 Micro USB Host OTG Adapter Cable Micro USB to USB that could have fucked it. I am using a more powerful charger than the stock one - could that have been it?
Cheers

Obviously it could just be fucked but it could just be that the connector between the disk and the USB is fried (but unless you're handy with electronics you'll never know) , you can try and download a trial of a file recovery app, sometimes explorer or finder can't see disks but the recovery app can.
If it's hot then you probably know the answer to why it's fucked, you can just us a bigger flash drive next time which has more surface area to disperse heat or just buy another pen drive, you could have the same thing again plugged in for 10 years and never have the same problem plus pen drives are cheap.
Main thing is make a clone of your drive in future.

Excellent, thanks (and Dibble too).

Most USB sticks are not up to the job of reliable long term storage. I found this out the hard way when using them for server OSs. Look for 'industrial' USB sticks for reliability, but they cost a lot more.

AggiThanks for suggestions. Mrs EB has come straight out of leftfield and wants to get a Samsung Frame TV to put on the wall with the rest of her pictures! 🤣

Frame TV
They feel like a colossal waste of energy and aren't pictures usually hung much higher than where you want your telly?
Edit: I suppose I should work out what the energy cost of an art print is to compare

She has a gallery wall so it will be at the bottom of the wall slightly higher than eyeline I suppose

They have sensors on them so they only turn on when they detect movement rather than running 24/7 (actually my 32" didn't but I bodged something using a motion sensor from Hue and Home Assistant to do the same).

I run an SSD in a USB enclosure with my shield. Didn't cost much more than a large usb drive.

That's less energy wasted but still a bunch when you have friends over and sit around drinking beer for hours. Or whatever. But it is pretty.

Cheers chez_jay and Gewürzt.
I might have a look at it to see if there's any way I can fix the connector. I'm handy, but my electronics experience is limited to big soldering and wiring basic stuff up.
The more I think about it the more I think the power supply might be too much as its for fast charging a mobile and the OTG Adapter Cable wouldn't have any sort of control.
A clone seems so obvious I can't believe I missed it. But I was so focused on troubleshooting other issues I was a bit slack.

The thing is for my gen of firestick I read accounts of not using >32gb. Also wouldn't an ssd require more power than a stick?

colossal waste of energy
Any indoor electrical device is only a waste if you don't need heating. During the heating season, everything is a heater.

Does anyone have a portal fan recommendation?
I have some tiny little things but I was thinking more of some sort of ingenious light weight a4 sized flat thing that you could easily put in a suitcase.
Problem Solvers, Paragon Machine Works and Ti Cycles all make them and a handful of US brands re-brand the Paragon version. Stridsland also stock a 22.2-31.8 shim. Gusset may have done that size in the past but it's now only 22.2 to 25.4.
I have a couple but had to order from US as I couldn't find anything here. Dalry bicycle depot do fairly regular Stridsland orders if you drop them email. If you have a local Surly dealer it could be worth seeing if they have any spares (a couple of the moto bars ship with Problem Solvers shims, maybe you'll get lucky and someone left shims behind...)
