In about 2000 a few mates and I put one of those bodies a landy 90 frame with a 3.9lt V8 and manual box. Man that was fun getting stuck in on the ranges. We basically took 2 now expensive cars and made them worthless, hey hoe

Looks great, I like the sports seats, and PSE or aftermarket seem like must to get that wonderful sound to the max, great options.
The sports seats in my 996.1 have a soft touch finish and the back seats must’ve had some use as they’re quite scuffed. I have an aftermarket exhaust and whilst probably a touch bold the noise is glorious. Had it just over 2 months now, 1k miles not used a drop of oil, just managed to get a new set of rear tyres on warranty too due to a dodgy looking repair I spotted.
A few from c&m earlier

@NurseHolliday did you get sorted for your ABS harness? I only just caught up with this. If you're still stuck I'm sure I could get something in an express package.
Ah actually, might be tricky... Forgot that as of Monday I'm not unemployed so time is more restricted!

So I’ve found a 2004 v50 estate for under £1k. I’m speaking with the dealer and they said:
Here are the things I've noticed so far ;
The steering wheel sits at an angle. So will need wheel alignment
The check engine light came on and went off by itself - It has stored a error code for a 02 sensor, We have not reset the code so its still there to see. That's it really, It has good tyres and relatively new brakes all around.
It’s in Birmingham so that’s a bit of a pain, do I try and get an aa inspection or just leave it and move on?

Lots of red flags here.. Birmingham, dealer selling 1k car, warning lights, alignment.
V50 is a focus in a frock.
Auto trader.. set filters for 50 miles from home and less than £1500

Got a link?
What does the MOT history look like
-
• #79539
First comment is the sold as seen...
Looking at the MOT history I'd wonder, 7k miles on the last few years see if the bits (such as rear shocks or matching tyres per axle) have been changed for new.
Where in Brum?

I'd avoid - some of the photos of cars he's selling look photoshopped (e.g. the red seat Leon looks like it's been pasted onto the background to me).
I'm possibly overcautious and obviously don't know about that one, but I found dealers on auto trader to be a minefield - you expect a showroom and whatnot but instead they so often seem to be clowns selling cars from the street and just a waste of time going to see them. I ended up just filtering for private sellers and getting an AA check.

That’s filtered for “don’t show me write offs, don’t show me private sellers”.
Frustratingly I’m in the “not enough money to buy something decent outright, don’t want yet more fucking finance in my life thanks, I want avocados and lattes please” camp.

Buy a honda accord from a private seller.

Air Conditioning Retrofit
I need AC installed in my old Sprinter.
Tried Alpinair in West London - they quoted £2250
Any better places to go?

This looks solid.
In your budget I'd only buy something from a Japanese manufacturer.
Why don't you want a private seller? Again in this price range what does a dealer have to buy the car for to make a living?
Also I know the forum has a permabonner for estates, but a big saloon is big, increases your options, and will likely be cheaper. Not saying don't buy an estate, just saying don't exclude saloons.

I wish, my spec Sprinter is impossible to find another of (long story)
Yeah - I’m pretty excited- had been looking for a 997.1 that had had a Hartech rebuild but this came up in budget…
Hope you are right - my thinking is that they are the last of the 911s with hydraulic steering and still a sensible size. Plus the interior is a step up from the 996 generation imo.
