    next question, he said do just oil it straight on top without sanding, but theres still pencil marks and stuff from transport so i kind of want to sand it.. is that super dangerous with this kind of ply?

    the woods going to be on show, it wasnt planned to be painted but now im really feeling this kind of ply isnt meant to be on show?

  • Wait, has he lined the alcoves with ply and THEN built the shelves/unit inside that? If that's the case it does seem weird.

    I don't mind the whole unit protruding out the alcove, def think it would be better than having just the shelves sticking out. With the gap between the protruding section and wall/ply lining plastered or filled so it's flush with the ply, it would look nice and clean.

    Yeah i think with some filling, and painting of the framing, then either painting of sanding and oiling the book cSe itll look fine in the end
