• Wild thankfully your good boy will be home tomorrow.

  • Best and most unexpected news of the day.

A cocker just dribbled on my foot.

  • We had to drive our barely awake dog from our normal vet to an overnight vet for monitoring yesterday evening.

He had been through the wringer with 2 general anaesthetics in one day - first for the ct scan and then for the operation. It has been an anxious night and the girl dog is very disorientated without him.

Got an update from the overnight vet this morning

Good morning, just a quick update on Sidney. He has been bright and comfortable overnight. He has been taking his meds well and has eaten this morning! The vet will give you a call later on this morning to discuss a plan going forward. Kind regards WVG night team.

  • phew!
Glad to hear he is recovering well from the trauma of yesterday

  • He will have been on an opiate cloud for the day and will never know how much angst he caused. Wife is taking him back from the overnight vet to our regular vet for post op check up and then hopefully he is on his way home.

  • Read your first post, and was very happy to then read the developments.

Wishing him a good recovery, and same for your nuts :-D

  • Dolly couldn’t wait to go out for a walk this morning. We’re having a week around Gower and she is incredibly excited because she can see the sea from the bed. We’ve walked on the beach, had a swim in the sea. Had a stand off in a river, she wouldn’t budge for about 10 minutes(?) She has also discovered that she can pry limpets and the like off the rocks to eat them. She’s dreaming of the 15km to have a pub lunch and getting the bus back tomorrow. This is going to be her first trip on a bus. Pray for us!

  • The walk ended up being 21km, but the bus ride back was fine. She didn’t flinch once, even when we hit the wing mirror of the RV coming the other way.

  • so glad it went well

  • Looks like a great trip

  • What is she? Looks like a dachshund x JRT.

  • Cheers, she was a star. TBH there was no way on earth we were walking back!

  • Dolly’s a rescue, but is a Jackabee (JRT-Beagle). She has the Queen Ann legs of a beagle as well as the scent drive with the bullheadedness of a JRH. She is fearless and awesome! She didn’t miss a beat today even with extreme provocation from sheep, cows, bulls and a herd of horses.

  • Thanks for the reading advice from the forum recently.

Am using my holiday to work through this which is based on the recommended FB forum.
Definitely worth the £10 odd quid or whatever it was to have a paper copy rather than screen reading on FB.

  • Lützi last week on a camping trip enjoying the hundreds of miles of waterways in the Spreewald region of Germany. Second photo is when we spotted a Pine Marten eating blackberries on the bank. She prefers being at the front of the boat if given a choice. I think it's because she rides at the front of the bike in the basket and it reminds her of that.

  • Great pics of recent dog-adventures! Really lovely to see. Here are a couple recent ones of Owen and a bonus one of this otherworldly tree-dog from Nunhead Cemetery who looks likely to offer you a side-quest, should you be brave enough.....

  • Hope the little bastard can read...

  • To merge the in the news thread I was going to change my name to dujardin and get a crop as encouragement.

  • This "being in season" lark is getting old.

  • Dolly was sat here for about an hour, just watching the waves roll in to the bay. Being able to take your dog on holiday is such a gift.
