  • Anyone looking for a lightly used Cargo, looks like Ben at Kinetics is clearing out some demo stock. Seen on the ‘gram, not looked further on whether it’s a good deal or not

  • Been looking at R&Ms and very tempted by that Load4 60 for nursery commuting and gravel adventures. Seems like a great price.

What's the general view on the Touring model vs the enviolo/rohloff? I'm thinking I may have more flexibility with gear range with the derailleurs to get up the steep hills here in the lakes.

Is it possible to fit another battery to it?

  • I have a Load 60 and love it. Use it off road (bridleways) and on the South Downs regularly. I have the touring model with the same tyres (Smart Sam 2.35). The gear range is excellent however I have put a smaller chainring on as I often have two kids in. There’s nothing else like it with full suspension.

I had a failed Enviolo previously on a different cargo and thought the range was very poor, and it took me ages to find a Load with a derailleur this time. I’d pick it over a Rohloff even if they were the same price, personally.

At that price, from a dealer in as-new condition, I’d say that’s priced pretty fairly.

  • I’ve got a Load4 75 Rohloff and whilst there’s a lot of hate on here for full sus cargo bikes, if you’re regularly riding gravel paths it’s a really good choice.

My Rohloff experience is mixed. I love the range but the electronic shifter unit isn’t nearly as reliable as the hubs themselves yet. At some point I’ll investigate converting to cable.

I’m equally mixed on the Bosch drive system. Again lots to love about the smart system, but key design needs seem to have been lost in the never ending quest to add more functionality / features. The alarm is not very loud so it’s basically useless. The display UI is a clusterfuck and irks me every time I get on the bike.

My next bike will likely be from Ariel bikes, it won’t be a R&M.

  • What you should bear in mind is it is really handy to be able to change gears while stationary on a heavy cargo bike. Especially if you've had to come to a dead stop while going up a hill for some reason.

  • i have had a bullitt with and without bafang then a tern gsd (RIP) and now the load 60.

Load is in another league, just impossible to describe, crazy fun, very comfy and extremely agile in comparison. When i bought load i test rode packster and urban arrow, they fade in comparison.

I am in process of installing a 2nd battery myself, a german guy made a mount for 20eur and there is a site with good guidance and product links to make it work but its quite straightforward.

    Consider speedbox.
