  • Actually that’s the same one we have. Ours is brushed Crome though. No issues in 6 months and now I go places and hate their showers so must mean ours is ok

  • Sadly it seems lusso stone is UK only. So Crosswater seems the top option so far, and I'm already very bored of looking.

    That's annoying @tbc !

  • Probably even easier then! I ordered our Hansgrohe shower from Germany - it was about 40% of UK retail.

  • There is always Bristan? Had a kitchen tap that seemed quite weighty with brass internals and has lasted ok, think they might be made in UK?

  • They are and have a good warranty on them too.

  • Anything done well will stand the test of time, any cheap pastiches of trends will age badly.

FWIW I’d take Crosswater over Lusso as I’d expect spares easier to come by - saying that Lusso customer service is top notch and they’ve sent me anything I’ve ever needed spares wise.

I actually have a spare gold flush plate I need to send back really.

  • Ready with the patination fluid once #unlacqueredbrass becomes 2000 & late.

  • We went for JTP for our brass bathroom bits and happy with it so far

  • Mine are all chrome, easy to clean and colour match if you need to replace something. Also, they never go out of fashion because they were never fashionable to begin with. When I’m washing my balls I want function not something that would make the centre spread of ideal home.

  • ^ things grohe users say.

  • We have Lusso Stone brushed gold but the brushed finish is incredibly susceptible to limescale.

Their customer service is really fucking good too.

  • incredibly susceptible to limescale.

    user error

viakal / industrial lime scale remover diluted with water
    +
    microfibre cloth

  • Chrome, just wipe it clean.

  • Are you suggesting Chrome doesn't suffer from limescale?

  • It's like you whatsapped me to join the conversation just so you could shit on me

  • Next time just come to my house and use my head as a toilet

  • @Ramsaye my toilet uses chrome finish flush hardware if you're interested

  • I’m suggesting it wipes clean easier and stains less.

  • When I called Clearwater they advised not to use strong products to clean, but only dish soap and cloth... As strong products could damage finish.

  • I’m not, but using your head has raised an eyebrow of curiosity.

  • Brushes stainless is seeming a good call

  • As strong products could damage finish.

There is this awesome toilet cleaner that will destroy limescale and polish up stainless steel a treat (great for exhausts).

Unfortunately it will also take off chrome plating 😢 ask me how I know.

  • Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I have no idea how to get started re-doing a bathroom. Mostly floor tiles need replacing as they are cracked and all the grouting is gone, but all the caulking could also probably do to be replaced, the current sink is round and crap because water spills everywhere all the time, and maybe also the pvc coverings on the vanity and the bathtub are looking pretty worn..

Am ok with small DIY things like replacing the tap but more major plumbing and grouting feel a bit beyond my abilities, and the sealant I put in for the tap was messy as hell. Just need things to be functional and as cheap as is reasonable; do I even want to consider the installation services being offered by places like B&Q/Wickes or is it just a case of go onto checkatrade and get tradespeople to run quotes and get things from Howdens?

  • What’s under the tiles? If the subfloor is moving the grout will fail again.
The best source of trades is recommendation.

  • Think it's concrete under tiles; I'm in a block of flats.. Did have a look in the London tradespeople thread but that one seemed quite dead! Anyone know anyone around SE London area? The bathroom is not large; maybe 2sqm and half that floor space is a bathtub.
