  • 2.50 in coins essential on all my rides so that we can use the honesty box to buy jam/strawberry punnets from stalls in front of people's houses.

  • Does anyone have a lead for some (ideally) orange paracord/nylon cord around 2mm diameter, and that isn’t sold in 100m lengths? What to make some simple zipper pulls with thin cord for various items, but not sure where to start. Cheers!

  • I use old tent guy lines. There seems to be a proliferation of abandoned tents in the nether regions of town. They rarely get guyed down and the cord is often still rolled up. They’re often in bright colours as a bonus.

  • £3 in the box for a dozen eggs round here

  • eBay is normally where I get that kind of stuff. Although 1m tends to be about a tenth of the price of 100m so not necessarily worth it.

  • If it were me I'd switch the torch for a head torch.

  • Interested in what the pills are...! And the need for 12 first class stamps.

  • Ingenious, great shout.

  • Replaced my Niwaki Daikon tote with a Mystery Ranch Brindle 10 last week, I fucking love it. The (almost) perfect shoulder bag, I think the only thing I would change would be the strap, but it still works fine it's just not 10/10 comfy for all day duties.

I'd never heard of the brand before, their other stuff is a bit bleurgh but this tote is great. Check it out.

  • Immodium are the only pills I'd consider for emergency situations

  • to make some simple zipper pulls

    Any particular reason why?

You can buy zipper pulls from aliexpress for next to nothing.

  • I have some fluoro yelllow 2.5mm dyneema that I make zipper pulls out of. It's an easy way to identify a bag as mine and making them myself means I can choose whatever length I want depending on the size of zip or whatever else I might want to tie them on to.

  • • 50p is a legacy from the stupid coin slot screw in my motorbike side cover which I upgraded.

    • 2 x £1 seems pretty sensible to me.

    • £2.50 should be £27.50 but I used the £5 and £20 and haven't got round to replacing (optimum backup cash imo: a small note and ok total).

    • Pills are ones that keep you awake. Obvs if you're tired you should stop, but irl there are times when you need to make it a bit further. There used to be paracetamol and ibuprofen but they got used.

    • Stamps I actually had to check, but it's actually emergency breakdown details. I doubt I thought of this, but being a folded plasticky paper they are still in vgc.

    • Torch: yes a headtorch would be better. But I use my SP40 regularly in the loft and garden and it's a bit big with the strap. I have an old retractable Petzl Zipka which I'd love to have the skills to replace the internals of because the leds are insanely dim now.. TBH the more I think about it one of my little Sofirn's is prob better than this one as standard Alkaline AAA unused last forever, and you can hold them in your mouth.

  • Wait, you are supposed to pay for those?

I just wrote a review of their product. Is that not what the honesty bit means?

  • Following a bit a research the following look like good mini headlamps

    • Petzl e+LITE Headlamp
    • Black Diamond Flare Headlamp Octane

There is also the Petzl Bindi, but that is more expensive.

  • I've got a Petzl E-Lite that I don't use any more if that's of any interest?

Little bit like this one, but has an elasticated strap thing that retracts into the unit.

  • Does it still work?

  • Yeah, I obviously shone it straight into my eyes to test it when I saw it on the shelf. I bought it for TCR4 but then moved to using Exposure head torches so it became redundant.

  • On bags, I got one of these packable totes recently and I'm a fan
    https://uk.peakdesign.com/products/packable-tote
Pretty sturdy, packs up easily and holds a lot. More comfortable than your average tote due to slightly shorter non-slip strap although this does mean that it can't go round your neck comfortably so not great for cycling. You can use it with a rucksack to give a helpful bit of extra space on the way home from the shops.

  • Sounds perfect I've dropped you a pm

  • £20? Fuck I need to start making bags again. I used to make them like that just for giving away!

  • just for giving away!
