The proportions of this look absolutely spot on. I love it.

Still need a shamone sticker.

Is the Shamone sticker an MJ thing or a Bo Selecta thing? Coz if it’s the latter…
-
• #2730
I mean, it’s arguably both (I’m not really the arbiter of what it is or isn’t). But I can safely say that it’s not on there as a bo selecta reference.
But then again it’s not like MJ was regarded as wholly salubrious either. This is the most thought I’ve ever given it. -

Thanks!
I was tempted by a silver seatpost but the current one matches the Alpina forks so that’s good enough for me.

Did the same loop backwards last night. Realised there’s a section that hits 16% coming up from Leathley. Lungs and legs exploding, lol. Quite enjoyed it tbh.
Another lol. Actually got a track pump with pressure gauge. Turns out I had my tyres at 30 psi, rather than 55 like the silca app reckons they should be. Felt a noticeable difference - who needs EPO when you can just inflate your tyres.

This guy, Mr Ohm, is well known ( for all the good reasons) here in Italy. Wish him a good run!

This is amazing. Always love seeing the equipment choices for ultra races like the TCR.

It's already 2 years old but still fun to read;

Ah yes, love this.
That guy Sergey is an absolute hero... no tailfins, apidura or 42T cassettes,
He's riding what appears to be a lo pro with schwalbe lugano 23s "few garbage bags and basic bivvy"

I mean derail is in the derailleur non?

Retrieved the 1969 Witcomb from the loft for a road fixed build. I need more suitable brakes or to drill the fork (these have too much drop), a longer chain (the only one in the parts bin is forcing me to run 50-15) and to do something about the troubling amounts of rust, but in spite of all that it’s an awful lot of fun.

That's lovely, finishing kit looks spot on but yeah a better brake would improve things. Ritchey seatpost?
-
• #2741
Thanks! The brake is a priority but I’m not sure a dual pivot, short reach nutted brake exists. I suppose I should drill the fork, or rather pay someone to do it. The post is just a Kalloy I think, but I’m happy enough with it. The frame takes a 27.0mm post so options are more limited. Overall though I’m super happy with it and think it’s a good use of the frame considering I’ve got no interest in doing a vintage build and it’s too old to MGOOF practically.

Tektro R525 is what I put on the Rotrax. I got them from Spa, but they don't seem to have them any more. Very easy to find in Allen key fitting, so good luck wading through all those listings to get the ones you want🙂

Have you seen these:
Allows you to convert a Simano dual pivot to a nutted fitting.
-
• #2744
Sometimes you can use a rear brake in the front because they have longer thread
-
• #2746
Doesn't a rear brake have shorter bolts?
-
• #2747
Oh yes sorry I'm mistaken. I was thinking about old bikes that have a nut on the outside of the rear brake bridge
-
• #2748
I'm mistaken.
You were thinking of using an Allen key front as a nutted rear, which is a thing.

Exactly

Hi y’all, a good time for my first post on the thread as it’s not dissimilar to @prevon . I’ve got this Record Ace frameset that’s awaiting finishing kit and components (probably due next week). Enroute are some NOS Velocity flip flop wheels and drivetrain bits acquired from a friend. The eventual plan is for a fixed audax bike, never too heavily loaded but potentially with plenty of water, a saddlebag and needing to haul tired legs up those last 10km.
I’ve got a 48-15 and potentially 48-18 as my two gear choices. What are our other fixed audaxers/tourers running?
More due later this week when a potentially gigantic parts box arrives in the post!

Haha, and I dodged the serious ones.
I’d love to get up East Chevin in a oner riding fixed but without dropping serious kgs or gear inches it isn’t happening!
