  • Didn't see a thread for this yet and since I started the last one, let's kick this off with a gardening accident...

  • Sad times and a blow to GB's medal hopes in the Olympics. I wonder if she'll just jack it all in or wait to bow out at another big games?

  • Awful :(
The UKs best cyclist in my opinion

  • I don't think her age will be a barrier to one or more future Games and she doesn't strike me as someone who would sack it in just because she was injured for one lot of them.

  • Some of Team Japan were training at my gym this morning - one of the staff said that they were one of the track relay teams.

I'm guessing 4 x 400, as they weren't built like sprinters, even if they were throwing really big weights into the air for relatively small fellas.

  • I’m going to go over for the day for the men’s road race. Guessing it will be mobbed in Monmartre and I have no appetite for waiting on a barrier for 6 hours but will see how it goes.

  • Anyone want a lift to Paris? Might give me an incentive to actually go.

  • Will be there end of July/early Aug if a beer might be of interest

  • Tickets from official Paris outlet still available but sales close 20/7/24.

  • Not all tech is total shit shocker

  • I'm over with my partner as we've got tickets to the QF of the men's football. We're also there when the men's road race is on but I'm trying to figure out the best place to watch from.

On the one hand, we're staying in Montmatre, so convenience. But on the other, it's probably going to be ten deep on the barriers around there and I also have little appetite for standing baking in the sun or dripping in the rain for 6 hours to see very little. Part of me thinks it would be better just to go out of the city and watch earlier in the day.

  • If you're watching a race in person, then you need to accept that you'll not see every move that impacts the result, and just enjoy the spectacle and the atmosphere. You can always watch the tv coverage later to understand how the race unfolded.

  • If I'm at a race in person I always try to be somewhere near a screen and pop out to see it in the flesh when I can. Get it on a big screen or in a bar.

  • Oh, I get that, it's not my first rodeo haha. I rode out to Essex to catch approximately three seconds of the Tour of Britain last year.

I'm more talking about being able to see anything. There's a difference between standing at the side of the road soaking up the atmosphere and being at the back of a massive crowd. It's why I'm pondering where it's likely to be a bit thinner.

  • Be bigger and smarter than everyone else is my other hot tip. ;)

  • I do have the height advantage!

  • What is the "error of judgement" they are talking about?

  • She's either whipped a horse or a child.

  • Maybe both, going for some kind of Dressage Mortal Kombat combo?

  • Horse head in the child's bed as a 'warning'

  • Or both.

Either way, posh animal-torturing twat who doesn't deserve to be talked about in the same breath as Laura Kenny.

  • Having a french surname and not being french.

  • 'having fun'?
Was the horse asked for a comment?
