I think it is because of his girlfriend not being selected for OI although by far the best rider in the team....plus prep for Worlds - he wants the jersey

The once in a life time 'Big 5' is now Kaput!

Read that, too. Couldn’t see a direct quote or source on the reasoning for dropping out of Paris so assume that’s baloney. He’d grab an Olympic gold medal if it didn’t get in the way of his treble.

Says when he wrote his original MoS articles he left Bobby Julich un-named as a fourth dodgy employee (Michael Barry, Geert Leinders, Mick Rogers) but three people named someone else as "living a lie"; subscribe to his substack to find out who!

Just a reminder that in 2028, Pogacar will be peaking in cycling age and endurance at 29 years old...
-

Yeah, just read it. It's a rehash of stuff we know already by someone trying to make a living from writing on Substack.
I don't say this often, but for once Jonathan Vaughters followed a superior strategy to Brailsford by not going down the zero tolerance route and encouraging riders to work with the relevant anti-doping authorities about previous misdemeanours. Brailsford would've looked far more progressive if he'd convinced senior management in Sky to adopt the same approach.

Pogacar was very vocal about Zygart's non-selection when it was first announced, and criticised the Slovenian Federation in strong terms. Justifiably as she won the national champs for both the TT and the RR (by 10 minutes) and is the highest UCI ranked Slovenian female rider.

lots of noise about it in Slovenia, including some guys connecting to the cycling. Ich bin ein Slowene :)
-
• #50910
Has the Federation explained why she wasn't selected? Seems odd.
-
• #50911
Yes, read the same. Just haven’t seen anything but conjecture on the reasoning for him not riding the Olympics.

Are you from Carinthia or Slovenia?
-
• #50913
Quite, but to stay injury free, no crashes that stop the career.....
There is so much chance and luck in staying in shape and injury free, even at this point in a season, there could be a tangle on any day in a GT.
Make hay while the sun shines.

Pog will start the Vuelta 2024.

And then win Lombardia doing a Binda.
-
• #50918
I think so too, in any case he'll never get a better chance at the triple.
-
• #50919
100%, and he’d be crazy not to try, the ability to win all three in the same calendar year is too good to pass up!
Best case he firmly cements his place in cycling folklore. Worst case, he looks human.

i think they said the road race didn't suit her because she is a climber.
and there was some reason for choosing someone else for the TT although the other rider is linked (same team, i think) to the guy who did the choosing. -

Slovenia proper. Ljubljana

• #50922
Did he listen? Or are you he was referring to when he said it was going in one ear and out the other?
-
• #50923
Have a Federation ever explained a controversial decision? You’re lucky if they even share the selection criteria.
-
• #50924
Don’t know why pog would bother associating himself with a chipper. Nose breathing up the hills trying to make small talk with Rog for three weeks?
I guess he could have a few soleros and make a bit of a holiday out of it.

He was busy preparing for the TT but everyone listens when #hippyisfat talks whether you want to or not.
