I don't. Thanks for the offer. But I could probably wobble to my pharmacist tomorrow or the next day. Would a test really make a difference?

It doesn't make any difference to being ill, just in case you want to confirm whether you have it or not. I would suggest avoiding wobbling anywhere and staying home to rest.

Well I need food. It's 300 yards to the shop and the pharmacy is on the way. It would be nice to see the sky.

Made a pretty swift recovery thankfully but know loads of people with it now - more than at any other point in fact. Seems society has well and truly let its guard down and it can move freely. Fingers crossed for no long term surprises.

Bollocks. Four days at a festival and I come home and then despite no drink or drugs feel like I have been hit by a massive comedown. Nope, two red lines on a test. I need to be fit to travel next Monday for a week long conference in Dallas.

Huge spike in cases picked up in waste water in the US as KP311 and Flirt do their thing, probably something similar going on over here.
Supposedly cases are nearly as high as the Omicron peak.
Only had it once so just a matter of time now.. -

Scotland measures for COVID in waste water too, and it's interesting to compare the current (now subsiding?) wave with the Sept 23 and Dec/Jan waves.

The recent wave in the UK has also been kp311

Maybe there’s a positive here and there will not be a big peak over the winter.
What is apparent is Covid is not a seasonal virus. -

Where is the best place to buy more Covid tests?
Am hoping I test negative by Monday when I am meant to fly…
-
• #27465
Superdrug do 6 for £10, most other places do 5 for £10

I'm curious why people are testing?
If I've got all the symptoms of a viral infection I 'self isolate' as much as possible as I don't really want to kill a granny. Doesn't really matter to me what the virus is.

I was due to fly to USA
CDC guidelines are that you should not travel if Covid positive. And I needed to be able to evidence I was covid positive to my travel insurer

Was chat about JN1. variant vaccination this autumn in the mod thread so moving it here:
I’m going to wait until the updated boosters are available and hopefully Novavax as it’s a traditional protein based vaccine and has done well against current strains in the lab.
Couldn’t find much UK info on what and when only CDC approval in the US.
But the updated Moderna has been approved few days ago

Interesting xec variant, having had flirt earlier in summer and something in spring, I'm now cut down by this thing, different from the original, more intense.

Got home from Europe yesterday, had a bit of a sore throat and figured it was just from flying. Went to work today and managed okay but started to feel more ill as the day went on, just tested positive.
Rang mum in Spain to make sure her and dad were okay and she tells me my sis had a sore throat last week, she was complaining of feeling super tired when she got back to London on Saturday so I must've caught it off her. Bit annoying, with elderly, vulnerable parents I would've hoped she'd be a bit more aware of the risk to them.
They seem to be well anyway, they just had their jabs so should be okay. I'm gonna get an antiviral tomorrow, my other half is immunocompromised so it's always a worry when a bug comes into the house.
Only the second time I've had it, boring and it's gonna cost me in lost earnings! 😐💸
Hoping it's not like the time I travelled back from Europe and got a double dose of jetlag and gastroenteritis. I was in a daze for fucking days.

Thanks, Oli, I'm sure it'll be fine. I wonder if I'll get a black tongue again this time??

I picked it up while in Ibiza a few weeks ago, I felt fine but lost my voice and still have a tickle in my throat that’s only just starting to go. Fingers crossed for your parents.

Started taking antivirals yesterday and I feel much better today, headache is under control and feeling much more human. Parentals haven't got sick, OH still okay but that could change any time. Fingers crossed.
Do you have tests / do you want someone to post you some?
