the rim should suffice from the world of bmx for now. i think i’ll put your old pedals on it so you’ll be involved in spirit.
can’t wait for chippy runs when it’s together 💃

does anyone know if i could use a more modern 6-bolt rotor adapter instead on this? or i guess there's no harm using a mismatching old 5-bolt rotor on the front?
-
• #305
...doesn't look like the spline pattern is compatible with centre lock.
Ask Hope right? Maybe they even still do adapters for 6 bolt..

they ignored half of my questions, but got this
best to avoid involving mismatching antique rotors. shame as the hub is really nice.

amazing.

this has now annoyingly stalled as the front hub i bought never got sent. paid three weeks ago and seller is still coming up with excuses, fuming. if anyone has a 36h disc front hub in silver sitting somewhere i'd be very keen to get my paws on it. was already looking at new hubs which is desperate for me.
have everything bar a headset, seat clamp and skewers. scored a white industries made specialized ti bottom bracket for some change. just need to sort the bearing on the other side as it's apparently rough. if it looks like this, where should i look for replacements?

unexpectedly the hub arrived after all and is being build now. the rear wheel is ready to be picked up from arup, so rolling chassis teasers dropping soon.
i'm only missing the headset and seat clamp, of which the latter is going to be a salsa lip lock. with the headset i was looking to convey masculine and utilitarian heavy trucking vibe and cane creek c2 could be a choice.
another option could be dia compe cb2, which looks good on @Qebrus 's trek and comes in a variety of colours.

Lush! May I ask where the slim steerer spacers are from?
-
• #311
if you mean the ones on the trek, i think they’re from blue lug. the other one is a random bike from the depths of google image search so dunno.

What front tyre are you getting? Any deals out there in tho 2.3 x 406 realm?
-
• #313
I get mine from Ultraturn on ebay (silver only tho).

as a slave to the tanwall i have procured this heavy, beaded halo moulton tyre. it needs to match the 48b rear and hence no mega width craze here unfortunately. think city cargo i guess.

You can also get these Ti ones from Spa Cycles.

You can also buy from the forum's very own @gbj_tester

Get an old skool hope headset? They seems to have a large stack those headsets. May be what you're after.

Tan walls look quite nice there.

• #321
not a bad shout. do you know how much more they give than the ~30mm from ck?
-
• #322
I'll measure mine when I get home. But it's a fair bit thicker than a CK.

legend! i've put a wtb ad on retrobike now. glad i didn't jump on the cane creek yet.

tan walls on silver rims is the most effective way to detach oneself culturally from (the matte black of) roadie gravel.

FSA the Pig is another high-stack option. Not as bling but a rather durable DH specific headset which may come in handy on a loaded cargo fork.
Rad! Thanks for the tip, I ordered some:)
