  • I had a GX61 as my first full-sized MIDI controller, was pretty happy with the key feel. Later moved to a Keylab Essential which was very spongy (though the proper Keylabs are apparently much better). Now using an FL Key (same as the Novation Launchkey) and feels pretty nice, a little lighter than the Nektar from what I can remember, but that was a few years ago.

If possible, I'd definitely recommend going to a store and trying some out. Though not really sure where that would be. I had a quick look at the Anderton's store there and from what I can see they only have Novation controllers (and a few Akai Minis) on display.

  • Thanks for the feedback, really useful! Was going to pop by Denmark st as it's near work though not a lot is left there these days :( One store focuses on digital pianos and keyboards though so will see if they have anything there.

@C4r1s definitely open to second hand, sounds like you might have a V49? https://www.alesis.com/products/view/v49.html I had been looking at those, too!

  • Ah I’ve just had a check and it’s the v61 :( sorry! Knew it wasn’t full sized but couldn’t quite remember which it was. If you don’t find a 49 key and want a 61 key then let me know, it won’t be going anywhere!

  • Are you still looking for something BTW? I'm clearing out some music gear and found that I still have that GX61 up in the storage room. It's not boxed, but happy to send it for postage costs.

Will be getting rid of a Roland MC-101 & Yamaha Reface CS/DX pairing (all 3 with Decksavers and the MC-101 including 100+ of the ZenCore soundpacks), will grab some photos if anyone here is interested before popping up on Reverb.
