  • 🤫😘

  • Gotcha. Love you .... Ron 😘

  • Selling our relatively inexpensive and high mileage Skoda Citigo on Autotrader, and so far have had interest from Leicester and Glasgow - we're in South London.

Why? I can't help be suspicious as why anyone would travel that far

  • Not so subtle flex … I’m tempted to put in the golf clubhouse thread .
I have to say I love a 911 with a roof rack , and this must be the zenith

  • The polo mallets make it for me.

  • I was wondering what there were

  • They're for keeping the proles in their place.

  • “I totally agree, but I also don’t think it’s much different to some of the laughable showing off/statements of wealth that are a daily occurrence in the house extension thread these days.“

    Wealth and showing off?

How about hard work (nhs and social services- no inheritance or gifts) saving up, remortgage and recycling and reusing as much as possible?
Current projects are there to share ideas and info and some pictures in my opinion.
If I had instagram and you tube then that would be showing off🫵

  • Speaking of show offs and things that cost too much money!

  • Very cool rack, not sold on the Cup 2's.

  • Wheels are way off, agree.
    And where are the horses?

  • Because they are fun.

In my Aston I could and did drive from Belgium to Austria in one stretch, in a trip where I legally travelled at more than 160mph for many miles, and was still getting overtaken.

  • Having not driven at those speeds, does it feel fast or does your brain and road layout compensate?
NSL often feels soporific on UK motorways, 30-40% more seems about right but they’re not designed for more.

  • It feels fast at first, but you get used to it quite quickly. By the time we got to the other side of Germany 110-120mph felt like a sensible quiet cruising speed.

  • Things on the horizon come up very quickly.

But depends how quiet the car is, as doesn't feel fast. 90-100 felt fast (in a modded Skoda Estelle)due to the sound and vibration then to a 740 turbo 140 mph felt like I wasn't speeding. Both on open motorways no traffic to overtake.

  • Good looking magazine, that.
Ordered the Porsche turbo issue for my car nut dad's birthday.
It's not like I ever get anything more than a call on my birthdays from him, but that makes it even more fun, thank you!

  • In my experience, how "fast" it feels varies quite heavily by car, was it designed to go that fast or are you just driving it that fast, but the main thing I've noticed was that the speed of other traffic really distorts your perception of your own speed.

  • Ah good stuff, it's a beautifully put together magazine, i'm sure he'll like it.

Funnily enough my mum got me the first issue for my birthday years back. Still not convinced she paid the £2.99 asking price in the charity shop as she works there but it's the thought that counts!

  • Having never owned a newer car i can't get my head around how easy it is to drive something even relatively unsporty very quickly. Gone are the days of stuff biting back or letting you know your limits.

    I blame Honda/Senna...

  • It is a lovely magazine. I have been a subscriber from the first issue.

  • Or electronic safety devices.

  • I'm in danger of sounding like a boomer but I think slower cars with more feedback and less mechanical grip taught people what happens if you over step at lower speeds and how to feel it.

Now you can jump in an S3 with astonishing levels of mechanical grip, fuck all feedback, and lose it trying to go around a 50mph corner at 100mph and walk away from the crash. I don't feel like that's progress.

  • Isn’t the progress walking away from the crash?

  • Yeah for sure, but what if we made cars safer to crash without also making the driver feel invincible

  • Yeah i'm with you here. I have zero evidence for this but can't help but feel there is an increase in speeding, tailgating, late braking etc and its encouraged by the over confidence modern cars give people. Great if you can walk away from a 100mph crash but not so good if you've done it in a 20/30mph area where other people have the right to exist.
