  • Nah, tea tree cream is great for bites and stings! It's antiseptic as well.

  • To be fair, I got covered in nettle stings in the lake district a couple of weeks ago and they were a fucker. The stings and scratches I picked up yesterday disappeared pretty quickly after a shower and some tea tree cream. I guess our soft southern nettles aren't up to much.

  • I shall remind you of this post in September.

  • FFS, first I HTFU on command and now you're implying that the nettles are going to have any exposed skin sloughing off in a couple of months time. How am I supposed to win with you Andy?

  • I think it's more "soft southern nettles" rather than your skin will fall off.

  • lol - you're already winning. Just don't fall into the trap of believing that once a soft southern nettle, always a soft southern nettle.

  • Luckily I run pretty cold so sure I'll be in leggings and a long sleeve jersey by September anyway!

  • Setup make nice ones, made in Derbyshire, often reduced. I love my long sleeve, I’m tall and it fits great in XL

  • That looks alright actually! Very affordable as well, might as well give it a go. Thanks.

  • Yeah these look really good! Need a couple of tees for next month so gonna try these out :)

  • I got 2 pairs of van rysel shorts and a jersey delivered yesterday, as wanted some cheap stuff for wearing on the turbo as they'll be in and out the wash all the time. Was the summer bibs - £60, and the RC100 bib - £29 and the summer jersey £50.

The bibs look nice enough (though have a weird low, square front) but they are really not comfortable at all. Padding that points right up the jacksie, they are really weird.

They do look quite nice but they do feel like a cheap alternative - wee things digging in that are annoying and which i think I would hate on a long ride.

The jersey is a cool colour though.

  • Does Decathlon make the kit for their Decathlon AG2R La Modiale pro team?

  • yes

  • Made by Rosti isn't it?

  • It is. If the full kit is a bit much the cap is a bargain and very good too.

  • Not stylish per se but as Paria were mentioned recently...does anytime have experience of their cargo bibs?
They are on sale and I'm looking for a new set. Currently using rapha core bibs (from the first few years are they were released).

  • I have a pair.

The pad is a touch too thin for the kind of ride that would demand a cargo bib, so they have a bit of an identity issue in that sense.

Pockets are fine, fit and feel are fine. Some weird zip bits that I'm not keen on.

Ok for ~£60. If it is closer to £80 then get some Rapha core.

That's my 2p on the matter.

  • Thanks for replying; I wasn't sure about the zip either. I think I'll keep looking (I found the current rapha core bibs have too much compression when I've tried them on).

  • Just to say I've received some Victory Chimp cargos to try something different after Rapha core bibs suffered from the pad unstitching as well as that weird phenomena where they stretch and go slightly bobbly. The VC quality is ok, feel a bit sub Rapha core cargo, but about same as standard core. Paid £95.

  • The pad is a touch too thin for the kind of ride that would demand a cargo bib, so they have a bit of an identity issue in that sense.

just to add an opposing opinion, though not of the Paria bibs as I havent used them: I much prefer a thin pad for long rides, and especially bikepacking where they might get more than one day's use. a thin, firm pad is faster to dry and doesnt compress as much during the ride

  • Any recommendations of stylish mtb/gravel loose fit jerseys?

Been wearing cheap as chips Karrimor technical tees from Ashley's emporium for a while and fancy something a bit nicer now but all I'm finding is very similar looking technical tees with slightly nicer branding for 10x the price.

  • I'd recommend merino tees instead. They look better and feel better and perform better and can be worn multiple times between washes. Although admittedly they are more expensive.

You can sometimes find the lesser known ones in sales, like the Fjallraven x Specialized ones for example.

Albion ones are the cream of the crop in my experience of Albion, Rapha and the above mentioned ones.

  • Cheers, gives me something to search for.

  • Do like Patagonia cool capilene long sleeve for mtb/grav/everything

  • Looking for reasonably priced white cycling socks. Found these Decathlon socks for £8.99. Anyone tried them or have other recommendations?
