Wonder if the age of the candidates is still gonna be a thing in the US media now...

That’s another of the few positive things about Biden clinging to hope: magats have spent a lot of their dosh focusing Biden as a candidate and have somewhat disregarded Kamala. Now every penny they have will be focusing on beating Kamala.

Bidens' age was his major flaw in not being the Donald Trump Candidate. Kamala Harris dosen't have that problem.
She is a Black woman and I fear that my be a, sadly a problem for her. Hope she can get enough of the Not Trump Vote, to vote for her.

Already seeing a lot of “she slept her way to the top” crap.
Nobody can back up their lies though. -
• #18181
Presidents have a lot of commitments and work to do.
With Biden doing most of the work Harris can spend all her time campaigning. -
• #18182
I imagine they'll just go nuts on the she's a woman so she slept her way to the top thing, and also hammer the shit out of "DEI hire!"

Identity gets mentioned a lot because it's easy for journalists to write about. Need to cram in a certain number of words before a tight deadline? Make sure to bring up her gender and skin colour. Every time.
What I am less convinced about however is that this will affect the median swing voter. The block of surprisingly few people who will get her across the finish line. I think she has a fair chance of winning against Trump. He suddenly looks a lot less attractive when next to a perfectly lucid VP with no known stains on her track record. -

And we're now extremely attuned to look for signs of ageing. I reckon not a single voter under 30 will give Trump a pass for his next incoherent rambling.

And we're now extremely attuned to look for signs of ageing
The kind of person who would’ve voted for donald frigging trump instead of annulling their vote isn’t likely to be persuaded by his clear signs of age-related decline. His abhorrent endorsement of hate and his own shortcomings have become so normalised that his posse and swing voters don’t just tolerate them, they no longer see them.
Kamala is a legal great white shark, proven by years of courtroom performance taking on big banking. She needs to hit the trail hard to get the Dem base riled up behind her, and to get trump on as many (well-moderated) prime time debates as she can.

Is this from the cover of her difficult second album?

Ezra Klein has uad some good shows in the last month talking about Harris, including a dedicated esp. in case anyone's interested in learning about her.
Imo if they can get there shit together there is scope there. The abortion nightmare has created an excellent space to secure many female voters. The most vermently opposed to KM are going to be the people who were always going to vote Trump, so there's no ground lost there.
If the Dems can unify around her there's a chance.
It feels as if the "left" in the US have a similar problem to the UK where they're desperate to look a gift horse in the mouth because it's not their type on paper.
✅ American Dream
✅ Strong on crime
✅ Not an awful old manHow* can you not sell that shit?
*possibly because she hasn't been able to covert her personally - everyone seems to rate her on an in-person basis.

Harris has all the charisma of a random sock found in a bush. If making her the nominee is the Dem’s idea of a plan then we are out of the frying pan and into the fire.

What I thought was interesting is that everyone who's spent time with her says the opposite.
I wonder if there is an element of trying too hard and being too self conscious that blocks the ability to show it.

everyone who's spent time with her says the opposite.
Which would be fine if she were running for a parish council seat in Pittenweem.

Trump is obviously a big fan of Scarface.

'Truly believes' is a bit of a category mistake for anything that goes on in Trump's mind, though. They'd have to show he's said this on other occasions. I haven't heard it before. Perhaps it was just a reflection of what was passing through him in that moment. People who are preoccupied about their own sanity do often talk about (in)sanity.

She's not Biden. She has all the donations.
There's no one else given the short (for the US) timescale.Incidentally, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump refuses to do any debates with her for 'reasons'.

Incidentally, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump refuses to do any debates with her for 'reasons'.
He's already got in there and suggested any debates would have to be on Fox News.

Biden has done the one thing Trump's team have no plan for at all, and having framed the entire election discussion around the mental competency of an aging candidate now have a massive self-inflicted problem.

Who will Harris have on the VP ticket?
So trumps team will be looking for a new script.
If it’s Harris, they have one written, it will insinuate she slept her way up, she’s a careerist whatever. But at the same time, she’s considerably younger and more coherent.
There’s enough time to run a campaign and show Trump to be a buffoon that sits way beyond the margins of credibility
