I don't see anyone dissing the Milltag Carter USM stuff so all is good still.

Worth observing that Fruitbat used to cycle between gigs on UK Tours and I also saw him gig in his band Abdoujaparov.

Band jerseys are tragic imo

They're for the oldies trying to hold onto their youthful identities. I think Morvelo did a run of Joy Division jerseys back in the day, or was it Milltag. Anyway, I know of 2 separate older MAMILS that picked those up thinking it was wonderful. Did not ride with them again.

Maybe they decided to not ride with you because your socks were too short or something equally heinous?

Milltag do look to have done a lot, including Hatsune Miku which feels like an extremely niche crossover.

Any suggestions for a decent, affordable lightweight long sleeve jersey? I'd like to be able to ride off road in summer without getting covered in nettle stings.

I have the older version of that for same purpose (nettles)

I think nettle stings are preferable

I also use zip off trousers for same purpose
