I’ve had a black Ti39 post for a year, going strong. They make an extended version if you just need a bit more length; else, the stock telescopic works well.

Where did you order yours from, shipping times and all of that? I'm still looking for a cheapish ti one. The Ti39 designs look quite good.

You can order directly on their website, although it looks like prices have increased a bit.

Cranks went on fine. 41t Bikepunx chainring. With the stock bb the chain line is perfect with the chainring mounted on the inside.
Changed the bars to black slightly wider ones, bit of paracord as a bag QR.
De-stickered.
Sorted the grouchy pedal bearings.
Next jobs are mount the pump, stash some tools and tune the gears/ sus how they work.

Looking for some guidance from the hive mind; I've been given this old 6 speed Brompton and it weighs 12.8kg. I don't like the 6 speed and was thinking of switching out the rear to a 2 or maybe speed derailleur.
By my rough calcs switching out the wheels and tyres could save about 1.5kg. I was also thinking of upgrading the seat post, cranks, bb and pedals which would shave another 0.5kg off and leave me about £350 lighter.

Do we think it's work doing or should I just leave it as is?
Also, if anyones got any suitable parts i'd be very keen

The bike's coming together nicely. I had the same issue with my crank swaps chain ring position, as I bought a 2x crankset so the outer ring position was quite wide.

Nice hack to pull the luggage release. I went for cable ties, but some bright paracord would probably be better.

Thanks. Happy so far. I was going to look for a narrower bb but it's actually fine as is. The suspension block is great! Thanks for the advice!

Nice. You can flip the Pentaclip to get a bit more height in the meantime.

Took a few weeks as expected, about 4 or 5 iirc. No issues at all.

Adding- looks and feels like Ti. When I first ordered from them i took a dremel to a discrete part of the post. Long white streaks of sparks, as expected. Did a nitric acid test as well, with no issues. I’ve been tempted to get their fork and triangle, either rim or disc brake, but I’ve held off because of 1) cost and 2) their design is the original Brompton geometry with the expired patent, and I don’t know if those two parts have changed a lot since the first Bromptons.

What's the threaded boss halfway up the left fork blade for?

I think most people use it for a cable rub protector

Mudguard stay goes there too.

I think only on the drive side if I'm not mistaken. The left side stay goes to the axle with the chain stay catch

I'm new to Bromptons but I think so. Don't think anything ever comes attached to it on stock bikes so it's a bit weird. I thought maybe it was from bottle dynamos back when they were popular but I think it's simply for the cable rub attachment. Some of them face backwards which might help keep the cable away from the tyre on bikes with no mudguards

Both of mine have custom forks so it’s not there, I would have thought I’d have replicated it if it’d been there on the stock forks though.

I guess the first one I got was a long wheel base so maybe back then they didn’t have it, and my next one came in pieces and was already missing some brazed on parts like the rear brake bridge and seat collar.

It's on my 2015 6 speed model. Nothing screwed in though, as the boss is only meant to have something there with mudguard-less models, as then the brake cable can interfere with the wheel or something like that.

Hmmm, I guess the two modded forks in this thread could be from my two brommies so there’s no braze on for the afore mentioned reasons though I have bought and modded others and don’t remember noticing any ‘new’ or unusual braze ons on any that weren’t there on others.

Edit: it's there on every used Brommie fork on ebay. So strange.

Maybe there came a point where Brompton decided all forks should be manufactured with the boss. Less fork varieties to manufacture, and allows any model could be converted to mudguard-less 'properly'.

I have a new black extended post if that’s what you need? I had to get telescoping.

Also, does anyone know the OD of the top post of the Brompton telescoping? I want to swap out so I don’t have to deal with the pentaclip.

Edit: It’s 26.6mm
