Nice colour scheme that, looks quite tidy. Looking forward to this. Followed. =)

iconic!

Here's the frame after a thorough clean, some polish and some carnauba wax. The pearl white has yellowed a bit over the years. It adds to the character.
It's got some nice features: drilled Campag rear ends, a Zeus 2001 fork crown and an elegant curve to the forks. It's clearly not as well made as an SBDU. But it's still lovely.
Next up: get the BB chased and install some components.

Some chainring options. All '80s factory drillium, to go with the fork crown and drilled ends

What a haul! What bcd are they?

Thanks. All 144bcd and 3/32. All road originally, but fine for track and a 1/8 chain

Some colour options for the bars, too. Let's see what looks tidiest.

Love these frames. Personally like the black saddle and white tape on the original team bikes but there's a nice example of a Panasonic knocking around with white saddle and blue tape that could work well.

Fun project

Wow. What type of ‘bar-tape’ is that? Looks very tidy.

It's hand-stitched leather (not by me - it's an involved job). Unfortunately I may need to cut it off and try to restitch if the stem fitted isn't long enough.

Nice drilled rings :). The silver look like Sakae Ringyo /Royal LA5 and the black Sugino

Well spotted! Can't beat decent drilling for that retro look. Bad drillium, on the other hand, is pants.

That’s some nice frame! I would go for black ring, black saddle and blue bars.

If the builds work out I'll do a quick one in that configuration.

Latest snag: I need to get the fork crown refaced. Couldn't get the crown race on properly.

Fork crown refaced while I waited. Record headset and cranks on, with a 47t Sugino ring for now

Love that Sugino ring

First option ready: white saddle, tape and straps, with silver rims. The tape is a bit bright next to everything else. If I end up with white bar tape I'll have to find some old stock that's yellowed a bit.
More incoming using these wheels.

White/ blue combo. I've seen this on a Panasonic NJS before

Preferring the white set up. Not necessarily the colour but the bar stem combo looks better imo

Blue tape, less negative stem and white saddle.
Maybe if the white tape was yellowed a bit more as you suggested.

White saddle, blue tape: match the frame at both ends
Back in 1984, as a young teenager, I had a Raleigh Team Cadet in the Weinmann/ Panasonic colours. Pretty rubbish bike, but it got me to and from school for three years or so. It also got me hooked for life on this team colour scheme. Malcolm Elliott was one of my heroes.
I picked up this 1984 Nottingham track frame a few years ago. This summer is when I finally build it. I'm planning Record Pista mainly. I also want to experiment with colour on the saddle and bars. The classic white bar tape and black saddle on the team bikes looks good, but there are so many options to play with the blue, red and yellow. Let's see how they look.
Here is the frameset before I cleaned, polished and waxed it.
