Avoid mk1 5 as I hate them after doing a clutch change on one. Box is in front on the engine and no captive bolts.

Get a later gtx with the 1.7 and turbo it

Yeah not going there. Then we’d for sorting old a French is big though.
But sure a bad idea. Prices of Alpine GTA are tempting but know would be a terrible money pit with parts
