You’d be able to fit roof bars with clamp on feet surely. That’s how I’ve fitted rod bars on my last two cars.

Edit: that said, my Alto leaked and the clamps have dented my Jazz!

What do you mean by those? I have a vintage roof rack for classic cars which sits on 4 pads and clamps to the rain gutter, but there’s no rain gutter on modern cars so there’s nowhere to clamp something like that. Some Ups have roof bar attachment points but my one doesn’t have them.

Here’s how the Jazz one works. There is a gutter of sorts and that’s what the inside of yer clamp sits up against. The Up must have something similar as there’s this pic of one where you can see the clamps, it’s got rear doors though, dunno if it’d work on a 3 door car.
