Nine times out of ten I definitely don't need to travel, but there's a perception in the business that face to face is better for building relationships with clients (I work in a services business), and in some cases the clients specify it.
I appreciate stopping the emissions before they start is definitely best, and I'm aware of the petro roots of the idea of individual responsibility for carbon footprints, but are there any effective methods of offsetting personal emissions people use? Or is the whole offsetting industry a bit of a greenwashing scam?
Do you actually need to travel? Pre-covid I would be travelling worldwide maybe 30% of the year. During COVID we discovered we could do a lot of that remotely and although it was slightly less efficient there was a saving on travel expenses to offset against that. As a result I've barely travelled since.
