That wouldn’t even be that crazy. There are countries that appoint a fairly neutral character as their president, while the PM gets on with the real work of running the country.
To my knowledge: Germany, Ireland, Italy, India.
In those countries, the president is constitutionally a figurehead. The U.S. is set up differently and has no equivalent of a prime minister .
