The frame is very nice and sparkly, unfortunately my camera cannot capture that. But indeed the 105SC looks great on this!

Small updates.
The Koga has been sold to a young lad who's doing a tour on the bike in France at the moment. It couldn't have found a better home!Speaking of finding homes, I've moved to a tad closer to my homeland, which means you may see me riding my trusty old Marin in the Austrian wilderness (mostly on tarmac roads). I now have a rather spacious (2 m2) storage room as well as common, indoors bike storage. More projects on the horizon!

Yeah I'm looking at Willhaben every now and then and it's filled with cool retro MTBs, hybrids/trekking bikes and whatnot, so plenty to choose from. Vintage road bikes are expensive here though.
I already have half a groupset and some other parts in the bin, I'm thinking about a 26" project, laid-back, comfy, swept bars, fat tyres...@young_gun Yes indeed, can't wait to explore it, both on and off wheels!

Behold, the Eldritch Glade.
The good:
It's a Marin. It's steel, it's an Eldridge Glade, and it looks funky. Lovely neon splatter paint job, stickers mostly in good condition. Stem isn't stuck. Rear wheel okay (LX hub, Wolber AT18 rim). Frame and fork seem to be straight! Saddle is ridiculously comfy.The bad:
Seatpost is stuck... Right crank arm a bit loose, front wheel is garbage, grips disintegrated, brakes are only for show, STIs abused to death, 33 years of grime on the drivertrain, shifters barely working.The ugly:
Me, cycling 17 km on this thing, with the seatpost 5 cm lower than needed. My knees are done for the week.Seller knew about the seatpost, didn't tell me. I was 17 km from home. Made a lowball offer, seller accepted. I guess maybe 10 cm of the seatpost is actually inside the frame. I need (someone with) a big ass vise. It will be unstucked one way or another. Blasting it with WD40 for the time being. I hope the BB won't be frozen at least.
Won't be a boring job, that's for sure.

Nice! I got one as well. Fun fact: a friend of mine bought one of these to build up for another friend. That one also had a stuck seatpost and they managed to rip apart the seat tube when they tried to remove the seatpost with a forklift.

It's out. Barely took any effort with a meter of leverage. It wasn't very oxidized either, just a little bit, inside the tube looks okay as well.
Let's build.

It's quite a slow burner, but here we go:
- headset repacked with new bearings.
- stainless bottle cage bolts installed
- new tyres mounted (although I'll probably get new wheels)
- remaining stuff ordered, ETD next week
Can't wait to ride this thing.

I decided on not keeping the Koga. As much as I like ratbikes, I want my next road bike to be a little nicer. And maybe more modern. Not carbon though. Also, this grey-green paint job doesn't do anything for me.
Nonetheless, I'm giving it a thorough scrub, the amount of grime I got off some components is insane, I'm wondering how did the derailleur even work when I rode the bike home. Nothing is frozen in place though, everything came off quite easily and all the bearings are in perfect condition.
