At work we use Firstpoint Logistics. For what we need, they have a database of haulage vehicles that would otherwise be returning home empty. Which makes them competitively priced.
Everything from Lutons to artics. They do a mass of other services, so if you speak to them it is probably worth asking for the returning-home-empty service.
ETA - The service we use is dedicated vehicle - rather than a courier doing his rounds. Collects from us, drops off at destination, doesn't carry any goods other than ours.
