Ranges are typically enclosed to some degree for safety which would have totally different acoustics to a big open area.
I’m talking about big outdoor ranges like 100-300m. You hear a BANG as the bullet passes overhead, then 1-2 seconds later you hear the sound from the rifle. If the bullet hits something soft like the earth banks on the range you hear that PEWWWW noise.
Fair enough. I've never been in an outdoor range that didn't have banked sides on the bottom sections.
I still think trying to analyse anything from accounts or how the audio sounds (which has been recorded, processed, and played back by your device) is a mugs game.
