I want to build a window seat with storage underneath in a large square bay that is single skin brick and am having worried about damp / condensation if it stops airflow - has anyone considered this sort of issue and is the better answer likely to be ventilation or putting internal insulation between the brick and the storage space?

Just wound around the screw head

You could insulate it as you'd only loose a bit of storage space. I would use MR MDF, finish in a mould resistant paint, and keep some sort of air flow path.
My guess would be that as long as other bricks can pull moisture then it shouldn't be critical.

Cheers - yeah there's plenty of space so I can lose a bit for insulation, I just didn't know how well it is likely to work! I prefer the idea of insulating as any insulation is probably good to have anyway...

This seems relevant
Also noticed this comment which I thought was useful and I'd never heard of before

I'll be painting the stone again after - just need to get rid of the flaked and cracked rubbish first.

I used this on a rotten piece of wood in the corner of a bedroom ceiling that had been quite badly water damaged and it set rock hard then i used ronseal wood filler to rebuild the bits that had flaked off/been removed before hardening.
not sure of it's longevity but it all was pretty simple to do and about 10 months later not had issues with it yet.

I’ve just installed a new Grohe Minta kitchen tap, which is producing a significantly lower flow rate/pressure than my old Franke tap, and indeed most other taps I’ve used.
Plumber is saying it’s due to the ‘European’ narrow gauge feed hoses that the new tap has… to be fair, the flow rate for both hot and cold seems to be the same (unvented pressurised cylinder).
Is this just what modern Euro taps are like? Do I now need to find another bloody tap?

Can you just change the tap tails? I’m not confident enough on how flow at the tail/pressure turns into flow rate out the tap if it still is constricted though the tap body.

Flow rate and pressure are different things.
Assuming bad flow rate: this requires a wider aperture, I doubt your taps would have a wider aperture than the tails used to attach them, but there's a slim chance. Your tap might have come with a manual showing the diameter at the base of the tap, is it equivalent to the tail diameter, etc? Also: Did your plumber fit new isolating valves? If so, were they full-bore ones?
Assuming bad pressure: you can increase pressure with improved plumbing to the taps: less friction, shorter run, wider supply to key taps, etc.

Fwiw we have the below and I've never felt it was underpowered. So maybe something to look into on the plumbing leading up to it?

has anyone used 2 part epoxy grout? the gent in the shop warned me it was a bit hard to work with. i sightly glazed over when he then gave me instructions (typical me).
I can confirm that nitromoros + a pressure washer will not totally get rid of ingrained colour from stone.
So def seek out a specialist product.
